Assault On Precinct 13 (1976) blu-ray 5/5

One of my all time favourites gets better with age and has never looked better than on this blu-ray disc that offers a staggering upgrade on the old SE. nice to see they retained the mono track as well.Brilliant film,a must have imo.

Quantum of Solace - 3/5
Not a horrible movie but it doesn't come close to Casino Royale. From an action standpoint, QoS delivers the goods, with the first 3 action sequences occurring in the first 20 minutes. I counted only about 4 action sequences in all of 'Royale', and that film clocked in at a whopping 140+ mins. QoS has a running time of only about 100 mins but I actually found myself yawning more than hanging on to the edge of my seat. The plot goes haywire almost right from the get-go and for me, it never really came together. But I'm an action junkie and for the action alone, I give it 3 stars.

Cut and Run (Italy, 1985) – 3/5
No cannibals this time, but drug dealers and indians give a reporter and her cameraman hard time staying alive in Ruggero Deodato’s enjoyable jungle thriller.

For me that made them stronger. Action scenes for a purpose instead of throwing them in for the sake of it.

Despite Casino Royale being 140 minutes it doesn't feel lacking in the action department at all.

There were some decent action scenes in Casino Royale but also some boring ones, like the ending. The airport scene was embarrasingly poor. Didn't really care for the constuction site either...

hmm... what does that leave? Can't remember. Maybe there were no good action scenes in CR after all...

I liked the final fight. The airport action sequence was excellent, much better than the tosh flight one in QS.

I thought it was an all right movie... however, the ending was a huge letdown and very disappointing. What a bag o' shite that was.

How is the extended different? I just thought the ending was pants - its like science v religion - Will Smith says there is no God - but he sacrifices himself to "save" everyone.. what mutated the virus or did Dr. Krippin (ironic name, I spotted that immediately) create it like that

A classic of British animation.

I prefer the original introduction to the "Anniversary" one with Mel Smith though.

I thought Christine was kind of funny. Is that the one with a car that turns against its owner?

American Psycho: 4/5

That was great, I liked it almost as much as The Rules of Attraction (a sort of companion film). At first, I could only see Bruce Wayne since it's a similar character haha.

The Snowman/Irn-Bru ad is brilliant

Love it.
They've changed the intro so instead of Raymond Briggs talking about how he created the Snowman ("I remember that winter because it brought the heaviest snows I had ever seen...."), there's an animated intro with Father Christmas (Mel Smith) sitting down to watch The Snowman on video ("I was there, it was more than 20 years ago..." Apart from that, its the same.

I hadn't actually seen this one until now, and I thought it was the best vision of Bond I've seen really. The high definition image is amazing, it sickens me that recent films have inferior picture quality to this 1963 film.

Almost Human (Italy, 1974) – 1/5
Milano violenta by Umberto Lenzi. You can’t blame the director for glorifying the world of crime as Lenzi’s trio of anti-heroes are nothing but sadistic cowards. Unfortunately there’s very little to get a hold of in this nihilistic vision. The acting, directing and soundtrack (by Morricone) are hardly anything special, and the only point the film is attempting to make is to tell that the world is a dark place. That’s not quite enough to carry over 100 minutes.

The Hills Have Eyes (USA, 1977) – 3/5
Craven’s effective survival horror slightly weakened by unoriginal characters.

Sleepy Hollow (USA, 1999) - ?
Watched the first 10 minutes, then fast forwarded to the end. Too bad of a film to waste 2 hours on. Seen it in its entirety about 10 years ago.
