The Principles of Lust: 3.5/5
I randomly watched this on Film4 last night and was surprised to see Julian Barratt in it (from the Mighty Boosh), and to see that it was filmed in Sheffield (where I went to uni). The amount of sex and nudity was pretty shocking, near the end of the film it looked like Marc Warren was actually having sex with someone. The little Harry boy was a well good actor. I was surprised and amused at one scene when they bizarrely took 'Yagé' (aka ayahuasca, which I am constantly reading literature on) and gave some to a tramp on the street, what a mad film.

Women are naturally able to find other women attractive in a way most men cannot (acknowledge) they can do.gasteropod wrote:Haha, well the majority of nudity in the film is female so it seems more like something a dirty perverted man would have made
Clearly you're not familiar with the work of Anna Span

Hey I love Shanghai Noon! And actually, I like the Rush Hour films quite a bit
Jackie's worst, discounting odd 70's misdemeanours, is that unholy quartet New Line released: Rumble, Thunderbolt, First Strike and Mr. Nice Guy. Incompetently made, badly written junk that is truly embarassing. And why the hell does Michael Wong and Jackie keep jumping languages mid conversation in Thunderbolt???

Shanghai Noon and Knights, and Rush Hour 1 and 2 are nice movies, but TBH, they would have been nice with or without Jackie. He doesnt really add anything special to them, like you wouod expect from Jackie. They're just buddy-action comedies aimed at a young-adult western audience.
Jackie hasnt really made anything worth watching for many years now. I cant really blame him for cashing in after so many years of very hard work in HK, but all the BS he spouted before he came to Hollywood, about 'only 1 Jackie Chan, everyone can be superman, blue screen, own stunts, blah blah', he hasnt lived up to that. He 'sold out'. Again, I dont blame him, but for fans of his earlier work, it's a shame.

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

Speak for yourself... I've never found any man attractive. I can recognise if someone is handsome (say, George Clooney); but attractive? Err, no! So Brad, what blokes do you acknowledge as being attractive?bradavon wrote:Women are naturally able to find other women attractive in a way most men cannot (acknowledge) they can do.

Lol... and Rob-B-Hood was crap. In fact I'd go as far as to say it's Jackie's worst film as a leading man. I'd rather he retired than make such drivel. I agree that Rumble in the Bronx and Thunderbolt are poor... but I thought First Strike was a competant attempt at Bondish action adventure. Nice Guy is sloppy but has its moments. The last "GREAT" film Jackie made? Mr. Canton and Lady Rose in 1989.

Well I think Jackie nearly always makes good enjoyable movies (3.5/5 upwards). There are *some* less good examples, but those are few, and usually American movies or Cameos.
OK to bad films since The Young Master (1980) -
2007 Rush Hour 3
2005 The Myth
2004 Twins Effect 2
2003 The Medallion
2003 The Twins Effect
2002 The Tuxedo
1997 Burn Hollywood Burn
1993 Project S
1984 Cannonball Run 2
1983 Fearless Hyena 2 (doesn't count)
1981 Cannonball Run
1980 Battle Creek Brawl
That's 12 out of about 55.
