Thats nothing compared to the average person, most people watch what? 5+ hours of TV a night, soaps and that shit! so even a film a day is bugger all in comparison, you make it sound like a lot when it reality it is nothing at all.
Dont watch shit TV simple really.

I don't watch much TV at all because there aren't any TV shows on that interest me. Just a few movies every now and then, and maybe randomly The Tonight Show.

I kind of agree but most shit TV is background noise/nothing to get your teeth into. Watching a movie takes concentration.romerojpg wrote:Thats nothing compared to the average person, most people watch what? 5+ hours of TV a night, soaps and that shit! so even a film a day is bugger all in comparison, you make it sound like a lot when it reality it is nothing at all.

Kung Fu Girl 3/5
Enjoyable 70's martial arts actioner starring Cheng Pei-Pei of Crouching Tiger fame.a little overlong at nearly 2 hours and the joysales unremastered disc is not up to much (onscreen title None But The Brave). very Fist Of Furyesque in places with it's depiction of japanese as the bad guys,a climactic fight set in the japanese garden ,some of the same cast and there even some music cues taken from FOF.

Ahh thats where we differ, I ONLY watch thing I really want to, turn out the lights, turn up the sound and watch with 100% of mebradavon wrote:I kind of agree but most shit TV is background noise/nothing to get your teeth into. If you do not give something 100%, why even bother I say, as obviously it is not that good if you can turn and talk to someone, read a magazine, eat your dinner etc...

It depends what it is. I can follow most sitcoms for example, perfectly well whilst using a computer. You don't miss a thing, it's not as if they're very in-depth. The news is another example where you don't have to be paying 100% attention.

I already have 3 DVDs of The Big Boss - can't decide whether to get the BD or not... I'd have gone for Boss and Fist of Fury.

I wouldn't bother Grim, if you're happy enough with the DVDs for now I'd wait for Western BD releases of Lee's films.

Many a time you've told me on MSN (during a conversation) you're watching a movie. Now go get your coatgrim_tales wrote:Correction, I have TV on in the background sometimes but not movies![]()

I plan to. The HK BDs cost way too much and the HKL PEs of TBB and FOF are already good for me.Shingster wrote:I wouldn't bother Grim, if you're happy enough with the DVDs for now I'd wait for Western BD releases of Lee's films.

Agreed, Fox is most likely.
£19 isn't peanuts for BD. It's veering on the top end of the scale.

All of the DVDs have their own unique features (HKL CE, HKL PE and Fox) - 2 different commentaries, the HKL PE doesn't feature frame cuts - Fox has Mandarin.
When I say "I'm watching a movie" I mean I'm kinda watching in bits n pieces, not right this second.
Would a UK distributor pick them up? Fox BD's would be locked Region A wouldn't they?
I don't think HKL exist anymore, sadly
Contender do though.

It's an import Brad it's bound to be more expensive than homegrown discs. The weak pound hasn't helped. £19 isn't cheap agreed, but i take the view it's only money, you can't take it with you and if i can afford it why not?i have no doubt i'll be rebuying these again in the future.i hope that's true because it'll mean there even better versions have surfaced!bradavon wrote:

Fist Of Fury BD 5/5
Probably Bruce's best film, this is like a fine wine and just gets better with age. Bruce's magnetism and intensity is an amazing thing to see.Filled with classic combat scenes and a tremendous score, some say the Jet Li update FOL is better, the reality is it doesn't even come close. The BD doesn't impress as much as TBB, but keeps it's natural grain and the colours are true throughout.Again it's only when you slot in the HKL and compare side by side that you appreciate how much better this is.Still i have no doubt there's a superior master out there waiting to be released. Yuen Wah interview is the only extra, just over 9 minutes in SD.

Romero would still so shoot yougrim_tales wrote:When I say "I'm watching a movie" I mean I'm kinda watching in bits n pieces, not right this second.

Contender/HKL released a budget Game of Death last year.grim_tales wrote:I don't think HKL exist anymore, sadlyContender do though.

Do you have the original 1 disc or 2 disc PE? The latter used the Fortune Star Remaster but obviously pinks it a it. Otherwise the PE is a LOT better than the 1 disc.saltysam wrote:Again it's only when you slot in the HKL and compare side by side that you appreciate how much better this is.

Re: What asian film/series have you just seen.. marks out of 5
Thats just what I was going to ask Brad
Is it better than the PE or Fox?
Frame cuts are just odd seconds missing I think - when I saw the HKL P.E and the Fox I thought some scenes seemed a wee bit longer than in the HKL CE.
I just kept those DVDs for their own unique extras but maybe I'll have to stop being an extras man now with upgrade to BD (space is limited). The Fox DVD of Boss doesnt even include the original Mandarin trailer.
I meant some distributor other than HKL if they can't do it - wouldnt HKL have to put money into: a) remastering the transfer b) Finding the right materials c) Creating (if possible) new extras or putting over all the old ones.

They were cheaper than they are now.Flashpoint,Dragon Tiger Gate cost me at least £5 less each than these.bradavon wrote:

i have the PE. The blu-ray,i'm pretty certain is using the same Fortune Star Master but with no pinkification and bags more resolution.bradavon wrote:Do you have the original 1 disc or 2 disc PE? I don't think Salty has the Fox DVD.grim_tales wrote:Is it better than the PE or Fox?
It's important to remember with that one it's actually just a re-release of the Fortune Star and Zoke Culture (Mainland China) DVDs. Some kind of comparison would be good, to see if Fortune Star really have just re-used the old HD Masters.
I'm guessing it's better than all DVDs but the Fist of Fury 1 disc original remember is based on no HD Master at all, whereas the PE is.
Are you sure? Aren't you just imagining it?grim_tales wrote:Frame cuts are just odd seconds missing I think - when I saw the HKL P.E and the Fox I thought some scenes seemed a wee bit longer than in the HKL CE.
The trouble is, it can get a bit silly and FOF PE at least has a Bey Commentary too. The one on TBB PE is no where near as good but not enough reason to keep the old DVD.grim_tales wrote:I just kept those DVDs for their own unique extras but maybe I'll have to stop being an extras man now with upgrade to BD (space is limited).
The trouble is HKL still likely own the rights but sure someone else could buy them off HKL.grim_tales wrote:I meant some distributor other than HKL if they can't do it
Possibly. In theory all they need to do is add the existing extras but I imagine they want to "remaster" it further, remaster meant in the loosest sense of the word.grim_tales wrote:wouldnt HKL have to put money into: a) remastering the transfer b) Finding the right materials c) Creating (if possible) new extras or putting over all the old ones.

I'm sure I read a German review once which detailed the cuts. I'm sure the Fox DVD I have is the newer one which is the "1983 Golden Harvest version" (abridged Mandarin soundtrack included).
DVD Compare says the HKL "CE" is missing a few seconds from the beginning - HKL "PE" is uncut.
