I wouldn't want a 4-5 hour version even if it existed. They work better as 2 separate films. I have a feeling I won't like Planet Terror too.

How do you know they work better as two seperate films, you aint seen then cobbled together

everyone loved the long cut with fake trailers etc.. seperate, they got lesser reviews for both films. So obviously as one whole it must have been better for most people.

I see them milking us for every penny myself, with about 50 different versions over the years

There must be many HD-DVD exclusives on BD. Like Face/Off for example.

The HD-DVD has FOUR commentaries? Yeah right.

In terms of extras they look about equal:

HD-DVD - Commentary plus Interview
BD - Deleted Scenes plus Featurettes.

The commentary is poor though. The BD is cheekily labled the 15th Anniversary Edition when it has nowhere near as many extras as the DVD. I'd probably plump for the BD though, seeing as a Dutch HD-DVD is bound to be uber expensive.

The Dutch HD-DVD is also being released on Blu-ray too, even if it's Region locked it will be Region B.

It's not listed at Free Record Shop.nl. For some reason postage at BOL is a whopping 14 Euros, whereas a CD is only 3.85 Euros. WTF!

Even at £16.97 the HD-DVD is still pricey though! Get the USA BD!

there are far,far more blu-ray exclusives on hd-dvd than the other way round. off the top of my head there's both fantastic 4 movies, r.dogs, the saw movies,both underworlds, apocalypto,ghost rider,mr and mrs smith, the resident evil movies,silent hill, total recall,terminator 2. you've named Face/off-can you think of any others? as for £24-25 for reservoir dogs are you using Grim's checkout techniques

because i get it to £16.99 delivered from xploited.no doubt it can be found cheaper elsewhere. i already own the blu-ray.

T2 just as much as much an HD-DVD exclusive as it is a BD exclusive

Nope. That's that's the cheapest: $26.95 + $7.95 = £16. Oh you're right, oops. Something went wrong with my calculations there

How nuts though, it's cheaper to export it to America then back to America, than buying it direct from the source country

£16.99 is still more than £12.99 though

, enough for me to get the BD. The HD-DVD is a bit pricey. Only silly people force themselves into one format. You wouldn't get a single region DVD Player, so why only get one HD format.

i already own the blu-ray.

Fair enough. Personally unless there is something wrong with the HD AV quality I wouldn't double dip.

This now says the audio is DTS-HD Master Audio instead of DTS-HD HR (as found on th USA BD).

For the £4 price hike I'd now plump for the Dutch HD-DVD (or BD). I wonder if the menus will be in English???

I know but for starters we're talking about MovieTyme and secondly "Foreign language" is still a completely inept word to use, especially in America of all countries.

The HD-DVD sounds fine. The only problem being a possible pitch problem but the OP isn't sure if there is one or not.

The BD is also in MPEG2 so the HD-DVD being in MPEG2 is no real loss. The HD-DVD is Master Audio, then again the film is really perfectly fine in Dolby Stereo. Even so.

Then again it doesn't look like a particularly stellar HD-DVD.
