Doesn't sound like there's as much nookie as reported - I definately read that it was explicit. Any of the actresses get 'em out?

The Danny Elfman's score for Hulk is outstanding. Hulk is an excellent film, you really should see it.

Shame I see EIV have the UK cinema rights so I doubt I'll be getting the UK R2 DVD.

Nope not much nookie actually; Certainly NOT explicit. A few reasons I suspect:

A: Marketing!
B: Middle America has a real problem with homosexuality
C: Many people like to blow these things out of complete proportion
D: You see a (very) minor gay sex scene and suddenly it's explicit, WTF!

Just look at all the Gay talk Alexander got. I'd be surprised if anyone after seeing it thought there was much.

I've not seen that sorry but it's soon to be watched. I've got Fallen Angels first to watch. I have both DVDs.

I agree BTW marketing will often say something is very explicit when it isnt really (see the BBC drama Tipping The Velvet).

Well I've just watched Bumback Mountain.

It is a remarkably well made romance film - in terms of structure, photography and attention to detail. I expected nothing less from Ang Lee to be honest. The performances were solid and sincerely heart felt. I'll admit, the male homosexuality references do possess a certain shock value, especially as it is an uncommon theme in mainstream cinema. If the director was in any doubt then I'm pretty sure that the film would've failed. Instead thanks to Ang Lee, we have a touching storyline executed with immense confidence. The film is less about homosexuality but more about true love, a beautiful lesson depicted by a cinematic genius.

If you hate romance films however, then give this a miss.

5/5 from me though.

Brokeback wins top media award

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Oscar may have snubbed "Brokeback Mountain," but the so-called gay cowboy movie was tops with a gay watchdog group on Monday, adding the top prize to its burgeoning roster of honors at the GLAAD Media Awards.

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation named the film, which lost an Oscar for best picture to "Crash," the year's best wide release motion picture at its 17th annual awards.

Director Ang Lee accepted the award, commenting: "Finally, an award that actually means something."

Noting that "Brokeback Mountain" had won a slew of awards, Lee said, "Some of these are very meaningful to me.

"OK, there was that one that got away, but that's OK," he quipped.

Lee, who received a standing ovation from the audience at a Manhattan hotel, said it would likely be "the very last award I will accept for 'Brokeback Mountain' ... And to end the journey here tonight is like coming home. The fact is 'Brokeback Mountain' has helped to change the world."

Other winners of GLAAD's annual awards, which recognize mainstream media for "fair, accurate and inclusive representations" of the gay community, included Newsweek for magazine coverage, the FX reality program "Straight/Gay 30 Days," and ESPN's SportsCenter for its news segment "Andrew Goldstein," which profiled a gay lacrosse goalie.

Presenters included Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas and comedienne and actress Sandra Bernhard. Writer-actor Bruce Vilanch, who has written the Oscar shows for several years, hosted the evening.

GLAAD was formed in New York in 1985 in response to sensationalized AIDS coverage by tabloid newspapers and local news stations.

If the Oscar panel weren't so conservative it would've won Best Film at the Oscars.

As good as Crash is BBM is a vastly superior film.

I read a piece in the Radio Times by Barry Norman that said Hollywood is still homophobic to this day (only straight actors play gay roles etc).
The article was about Rock Hudson BTW.

According to a Teletext article, Brokeback has been banned in the Bahamas.

The Bhamian Plays and Films Control Board said the film should not be shown as it contains "extreme sexuality (errr... no it doesnt), nudity and profanity"
However, the Rainbow Alliance (gay rights group) called it "a farce" that such a small group of people could act as "a moral compass for the enture country"
