Updated: All of DVD (this post and others) have been scaled down to their closest resolution. For whatever reason, Snapshot via PowerDVD has, and continues to be, utterly useless; despite pause, image taken is not what appears onscreen. Decided to just bite the bullet and settle for 1 half of the original. Blu-ray of course is restricted.
Comparison between the 1999 release Ghost in The Shell, catalogue #BCBA-0246, and Blu-ray, reissued in 2017. The former's publication date comes from Amazon.jp, and is one whose catalogue # doesn't appear on CDjapan, the de facto source for importing Japanese animation so to speak. And while I no longer own 2009's reissued DVD, BCBA-3703, I'm all but certain audio & video are identical to '99. For me at least, this isn't all too surprising, safely presuming FlashBack 2012 to be copied as well. Forgive watermark (DVD) & faint images (Blu-ray); one I have no explanation for, the other a 1:1 rip.
