Shockingly crap movie, somehow missed it on release.it's encouraging that Germany sees a market for these films though, hopefully better movies will surface.

Got to meet Shinya Tsukamoto today! He's in london for the UK premiere of Fires on the Plain and he conducted a 2hr talk on his career on behalf of The Japan Foundation. The tickets were free on a 1st come 1st served reserve system and I was surprised to see there must have only been about 50 or so available from the extremely intimate venue. I was sat so close to Tsukamoto-san I could have slapped him in the face had he said anything that offended me! :D

Turns out he's every bit as humble and unassuming as his reputation suggests, even stayed for quite some time to chat with fans, pose for photos and sign an entire plethora of discs and memorabilia for the people at the event! (He was still at it when we left).

Cool! I've somehow managed to miss (my chance to slap) Tsukamoto twice now. He was the head of the Jury in Yubari a few years ago but I never ran into him. A few months ago he was in Sapporo for Fires on the Plain premiere but I was too damn busy to make it there.

I thought there might be a chance you bumped into him at Yubari one of the years as I know he's had ties to the festival in the past (either having films showed or as part of the Jury). Hopefully you'll be able to catch him at future events.

Enjoying some of my drama course, because of more practical stuff and drama games, but another part of me is rather overwhelmed by how much work/research there is (to be fair some is quite interesting) and the feeling some other people in our class just fucking moan about the course :( This doesnt make me feel better

Well, not everyone will like the course, but as long as you keep getting something good/positive out of it, it shouldn't really matter those other people moan a bit.

Why is there a lot of research? It's acting, right? Just put yourself (emotionally) in the exact same situation as the subject, and it should go pretty automatic from there.

Beats me. I woke up on Friday morning and everything was spinning in my eyes (no idea why, never happened before). Had to skip school and go back to sleep.

When I finally got up, my laptop was burning hot (and smelled burned). It had installed automatic updates, but it wouldn't go past the Toshiba logo screen anymore no matter what I did and how long I waited. Also, the fan was not working.

What a shitty day (and of course the Paris stuff followed, but I didn't hear about it until Saturday night thanks to being cut off from the internet)

I sent it back to Toshiba on Monday (the warranty covered it... but only because I had paid extra for a 3 year warranty instead of the default 2 years) as it was still dead. Got it back today. They said they found nothing wrong. Apparently it had recovered by itself.
