Was in a Dolph Lundgren mood today

These films are rated on the 'Dolph-flick' scale and should NOT be compared with my normal reviews

Men of War - 4.5/5
One of Dolph's better films. Him and his team of mercenaries take a job to seize control of a tropical island with Jade deposits on it. Dolph and some of his men end up turning on their evil employers and help the locals defend the island from the bad guys. Entertaining stuff

Red Scorpion - 5/5
On of my all time favorite 80s action flicks! Dolph is a Soviet Spetsnaz assigned to eliminate a rebel leader in Africa, who is resisting Soviet takeover of the region. He then joins the rebels and annihilates the Soviets. Hilarious movie that is tons of fun to watch.

An American Werewolf In London - 3/5

Very cheesy, but funny film. Its one of those 1980s horror flicks that you just have to laugh at!

The makeup special effects are fantastic - I think the 1980s are the best time for horror films because the effects were done on camera, not just added in via CGI like they are these days...

Hey IronMonkey, i saw that as well recently and loved it. Yes the special effects are bloody good and still hold up today. Better than some crappy cgi. Ahh you changed your avatar again, very nice still

The Devil Reject - 4/5
Okay its not that bloody or disturbing, but its a good follow up to House of 1000 Corpse and is much better than it. When i saw the ad in the UK for Devil Reject i was expecting Cannibal Holocaust style of disturbing, something you don't want to watch, but can't help taking you eye off.
It is a good story and Rob Zombie has improved alot but i feel the ending was not satifiying.

I watched Dragons Forever last night for the first time and didn't see what all the fuss is about. There was nothing special about it. And why the hell couldn't Jackie do that kick himself - the stunt double is so obvious it's ridiculous. Plus that Benny the Jet guy is creepily ugly - what's with the eyeliner?? Excellent presentation on DVD, though.

A Moment To Remember Director's Cut - 4/5

Took Recon's advice and checked this out. Now that I'm sick and not at work, I figured I had plenty of time to check out this lengthy movie.

Yeah very great and super awesome. Although it does follow a typically South Korean romantic structure. Doesn't stop it from rocking hard.

Yeah i was not bothered at all at the slight unrealism of the story, nor the typical SK melodrama. Its just such a great film.

..and Son Ye-jin is so awesome. Is it just me, or are female leads getting much less attention then male leads in Asian romance films these days (with the obvious exception of Sassy Girl). Like with this new film April Snow...Bae Yong-jun seems to be getting ALL of of the praise and attention, and nothing for Son. Given i have not seen that movie yet...but Son Yi-Jin has been outstanding (and gorgeous

) in every movie i've seen her in so far.

Oh well, not that it matters..just something i've noticed.
The bottom line is that 'A Moment to Remember' is great.

Wouldn't recommend this unless you are a fan of the original manga (which I doubt is available in English or otherwhere in the West) or a racing fan, because the race scenes have been shot really well.

A Better Tomorrow - 4/5
After a crap film, I just had to watch a film that would give me goosebumps. And I don't mean the kind you get when watching a uber-horror flick. I mean the kind you get where your eyes get wet. Ti Lung and Chow Yun-fat... what a screen duo.

Great soundtrack IMO.

omg... you guys seen this? Just watched it for the first time. It screams sophisitcation and awesomeness. I always feel that there should be more movies about voice actors.

Into the Sun - 1/5

Good god this is the suckiest movie that ever sucked.

It's a 2005 Steven Segal movie. I don't particularly like Steven Segal. He's a good fighter but has zero personality. His performances almost put me to sleep.

I chose to watch Into the Sun because of Takao Osawa, who plays the film's villian. Osawa is a superb actor but I don't like him in these psychotic evil roles.

It's directed by someone named "mink" (no caps).

The Mission (1986) - 4.5/5
First off let me say that i am not Christian, and you certainly don't need to be to enjoy this masterpiece of a film. This is one of Robert De Niro's lesser known roles, and he does a fantastic job portraying his character, as does Jeremy Irons.
A truly beautiful film, that really gets to me every time i watch it.
Also my all time favorite Ennio Morricone score (yes, including his westerns).

I watched the first quarter of Almost Famous on TV yesterday, and it seemed to be a much better (not to mention funnier) film than when I last watched it. It's funny, because I was thinking the other day how I wanted to watch my bootleg edition on dvd again. Think I will watch the dvd when I get time. The dialogue is really quite clever. One of the funniest lines was from the new style, exec-type manager:

"Do you think Mick Jagger will still be jumping about trying to be a rock star at 50?"

That made me laugh a lot. The film is only several years old, but it was a bit disconcerting the way Kate Hudson looked about twelve in the film!

A British animation movie about an old couple living together and waiting for a nuclear bomb in kind of security place they have built up. Really sad stuff, but damn good with very funny comedy.
