Not exactly a king's ransom is it? People regularly piss away a fiver here and there all the time, so what's wrong with kitting out your avatar if you're into your XBOX gaming?

Trying to play Pinball Illusions ATM (an old classic I used to have back in the day), I can't get it to work though. I've downloaded Dosbox and stuff.

Re: The Video Game Thread - what are you playing?
I have to agree with Eva though: companies like Microsoft, Apple, Nintendo and Sony are just gonna keep asking money for this kinda nonsense (avatar-clothing, themes, backgrounds, and worse) as long as idiots are OK with paying for this kinda stuff.
I understand why it's cool to have your avatar wear cool stuff, but I seriously don't understand people willing to pay money for it. Well... maybe in SOME cases I can slightly understand, but still... it's just a waste of money, but more importantly, it's a matter of principle...
I hate this kinda DLC-milking nonsense. The only MS-points I've spend so far were on Shadow Complex and Battlefield '43.I'll save the other points for when more games of that quality will be released on XBox Arcade.

Re: The Video Game Thread - what are you playing?
I got my Wii today which I think I am pleased about but I can't get it to work yet. Placing the sensor bar thingy is annoying and I can't calibrate the remote properly.
Not sure what exact cable I need to connect to the internet with it either.

Stick the bar on top of your TV & follow the onscreen options. Its really not that hard to do grim!

Re: The Video Game Thread - what are you playing?
I've done it now IM - still a bit sensitive though
Its easier to aim below the TV rather than above it for me.
In component, the picture looks good, the 1st time I wondered if I was doing something wrong (or I had shit cables) because there were red/green lines going down the screen and no sound. Then I fiddled with the cables and it was fine.
The bowling game is good
IM do you have a Wii?

You don't aim your motions at the sensor bar! If you've properly calibrated it, you just aim directly at the TV. Thats the point of the calibration process - it maps your movements to coordinates that match with the TV's position.grim_tales wrote:Its easier to aim below the TV rather than above it for me.
I most certainly do not! But I have set a few up in my time, while I was working in my previous job. I'm really not a fan of them. Give me an XBox or PC for gaming any day.grim_tales wrote:IM do you have a Wii?

Fair enough
Opening the covers to insert the 'Cube controllers is bloody annoying, they may as well come off, but you're told not to remove them.
I'm thinking about how to get onto the internet with it though (Nintendo shop etc so I can use the virtual console), our internet is downstairs and the Wii is upstairs, so maybe a Wifi adapter would be best. I couldnt use a LAN adapter as that would mean cables going up the stairs!

Re: The Video Game Thread - what are you playing?
I'm not sure. You mean the nickname for my Wii?
I don't understand why the Wii says you have to use the Wii "classic controller" or the normal Cube controller. Wouldnt a 'Cube HORI pad (which looks like a SNES pad) work just as well for NES/SNES titles? I'm sure I have one somewhere.

Whats so funny? I've never heard it called that. When you start you give your Wii a "name" right?

Too much information
Is there a Freeloader for Wii? My 'Cube Freeloader didnt work for some reason. I put it in (tried to see if Ikaruga would work) and it said "Couldnt read disc"

Re: The Video Game Thread - what are you playing?
You can 'mod' your Wii. Not really sure about all the benefits, but I believe it also makes the Wii regionfree for Cube games. Again, not sure, and too lazy to find out.grim_tales wrote:Too much information

Played through Age of Empires 3 and all the expansions. AoE3 alone isn't too bad, but the stuff added in the expansions is just terrible.

How do you run the HB Channel without Zelda?

I'll give Bannerbomb a go (seems all you need is an SD card) but I dont want to mess up the Wii
