Thanks for the link, does look a fair bit like the UK Blu Ray, dark and grainy

still I am sure they will get caps up soon of exact same moments from the discs and then we can see if they are indeed better

I have yet to buy any version of the film over the years, I may own the Rental VHS in the loft. I still remember seeing it in the cinema, the people I was with, the things we said and things that went on, as if it was yesterday

odd.

Yup for em both, I have not spent so much on films in eons. I never stray over £10 never mind £20 a film!

Mind you I have just paid £17.99 for Watchmen! I want to see that so much again and the UK has been shafted with the UK Blu Ray so I had to go america

TELL NO ONE

Engrossing, if convoluted French thriller about a doctor who's supposedly murdered wife reappears some eight years later. Not up to the standards of Hitchcock, despite what some critics claim, but well worth a look.

THE INTERNATIONAL

Quite good thriller in which evil bankers are the bad guys. So just like real life then. Even the normally plank-line Clive Owen is OK in this. Memorable shootout in New York's Guggenheim Museum. The ending feels anti-climactic... but perhaps it needed to be that way?

maddest purchase was probably the Longstreet boxset from cdjapan, £80 then a £25 customs hit on top

That's way less than I paid for this beauty... I did manage to avoid the customs though. EMS believe anything you tell them. Just need to have a low value printed in the package...

The Fog (USA, 1980) - 3,5/5
Very atmospheric horror film, although not on par with Carpenter's best movies. The final part of the film is quite short but also effective. Good soundtrack as you'd expect from Carpenter. Stars mother and daughter Janet Leigh and Jamie Lee Curtis.

I thought it was bloody excellent. Up there with Hitchcock? Maybe not but it does it have to be? (rhetorical question).

24 minutes for £10 is absurd as it's bloody 24 minutes, that's nothing but when you're getting into 100+ minutes we're talking about a proper film length and as such you cannot jump the price up forever.

The highest amount I've ever paid for a single disc, was about 110 Dollars for a used OOP-DVD of "Sakura no Sono" (1990).

Thankfully the movie was worth it. Every 96 minutes of it.

The Crow BD (Jap) 5/5

Though the film itself is far from perfect (some weak performances in the supporting roles for example) it nevertheless is a film i can keep going back to.plenty of atmosphere and a superb title role performance from the late Brandon Lee.he completely owns the role and none of the other "Crows" have got anywhere near his quality,closest probably being Mark Dacascous. The jap BD looks great to my eyes,the film is dark & smokey and the 1080p avc transfer at an average bitrate of 36mps captures it well.

Sadly not.

The Crow is great (it's not worth £30+ though) but all the sequels (I've seen) are rubbish. All the other people who've played him have no charisma at all. I've not seen the Mark Dacascous one. The one with John Connor is the worst.

he was very good but i wasn't referring to him.the likes of Sara's mother and the supposedly bad ass lieutenant on Ernie Hudson's case were bland in the extreme.
