Well said ICE-Angel for probably the most overrated e-tailor in the world.

You've forgotten something. Have you ever tried to get a refund from DVD Soon? It's nigh on impossible. I know Romero loves the fact you get store credit instead but I don't and as a refund is available as an option I should be allowed to use it.

Last time I tried it took 3 months after I cancelled the order and several e-mails.

I'm surprised they can legally get away with charging you sometime months in advance when they clearly don't even have the DVD in stock you're buying from them.

The ONLY reason people harp on about DVD Soon is the fact they can have good deals but then again ALL e-tailors can have good deals.

I for one stopped using DVD Soon awhile ago and now only (very cautiously) use them for sub £5 orders. Any higher I'd rather pay the extra £1-2 (if that) to buy elsewhere and know I'm going to get the DVD soon with decent customer services (something most people don't seem to care about if they're saving a buck).

Plus I don't like giving my money to scammers!

Sure, at this very instant they proudly announce a 10% discount for icard members. The fine print, however, states that you need to make orders of an annual value from them of several thousand dollars, something that as we know no average buyer would come close to making from a single e-tailor and rendering this a mere theoretical offer of marketing nature.

Please clarify what you mean?

Are you saying you only get a 10% discount further down the line and not per order?

It gets worse...

DVDSoon have now started to cancel outstanding orders after a fixed 60-day period. I PRE-ORDERED three discs in MAY and they were still on order until last week when they were cancelled without warning. Not only that but they expect you to accept store credit instead of a refund. Insanity. This is not a one-off but a new policy that even affects upcoming pre-orders. So if you see something advertised that's not due out for 61 days don't bother ordering it. It'll get cancelled before it's sent. If Soon expects me to re-order cancelled titles at a higher price - as has been said the prices have been jacked up considerably - they can think again. I'll go elsewhere even if it costs me a couple of quid more. I ordered the new Jaws DVD a few weeks ago and it STILL hasn't been sent - and it's the new release. Pathetic. I've hesitated in the past to criticize Soon but they're becoming intolerable. And e-mail has been sent complaining and requesting refunds for all cancelled orders. These charming Canadians have yet to respond. As I haven't ordered anything within the last couple of weeks I haven't noticed the lack of discount for card members. Is this another new policy?

Not only that but they expect you to accept store credit instead of a refund.

They tried 2-3 times to offer me the same. EVENTUALLY they refunded me.

Bar CD WOW I'm immediately wary of a company who charge on order instead of shipment.

I last used Soon last year (when I didnt know about the credit thing). Credit forces you to buy from them?

Havent used them since.
I prefer DVD Pacific, who, despite their strange shipping prices (they charge per disc in a boxset), they have good service and friendly people who will reply and answer your e-mails

You can get a refund Grim it's just uber hard. Besides in their opinion the idea being you shouldn't need either as their service is so good you'll get the DVD in a speedy time so won't need it.

There is one fatal flaw to this theory: THEY'RE A BUNCH OF SCAMMING BASTARDS!

p.s - DVD Pacific are very good.

5000 dollars does seem to be a ridiculously high value. It definitely says 5000 dollars? That's £2300/3400€.

It would take me over 9 years to spend that kind of money at one company.

really should have known better than to involve myself in a "special membership offer" thing.

I wouldn't say that. It looked like a decent offer so you weren't being naive.

ust remember they were not always like this. When I 1st started using them maybe 3 years back they were easily the best on the net, fast, cheap and no delays. Doesnt sound like the same company now really does it.

wankers.

I still get 15% off and I havent ordered anything for a month or so now as the sites insane at the moment. I am still getting most my pre ordered dvds in good time mind you, so they do good work sometimes as most are still coming weeks ahead of time. But if you dont pre order nowadays your buggered hard and you probibly wont get anything.

You've pre-ordered a DVD so clearly you're prepared to pay for it and therefore making them money. Is it so you have to go and order again at the higher cost? Which is dumb business sence, you piss someone off but they'll be re-use your services.

So its there way of basically fucking everyone out of the best deals!

for instance I got Appleseed Limited Tin for 7 pound! far to cheap and they knew it (I now went and rebought it from cdwow for 14 pound and got it in 3 days), everyone bought it and they magically cannot find any stock for 60 days and everyone gets there order canned!!!!
so basically its a back door for them when they mess up making dvds too cheap!

pretty much all the dvds I have had canned so far have been superb deals

Hence no point using them for orders now if they look nice and cheap.

They apprently DO NOT can pre orders of dvds not yet out, apprentyly, as some people have had there canned

Exactly. That was my theory. Soon have jacked-up the prices and are cancelling orders made at a time when they were cheapest; stuff you might not have bought at a dearer price, but are now stuck with store credit for. I'm sure it's illegal to this. I had three budget Kung Fu movies cancelled, that were actually pre-orders from the end of May, but never got. In fact, they've been out for even longer than that. Do Soon actually expect me to re-order them at a higher price? Do I look as though my head zips up the back? I want money back. If I cancel an order that's one thing. But this 60-day shit is bang out of order and goes against any trading rules I've ever heard of. It's been several days... and still no e-mail response by the way.

I can see why they're cancelling old orders in one way but to not offer you a refund is a joke. The fact is they shouldn't offer DVDs that cheap if they're losing money from it.

Romero why did you buy Appleseed again?

Hence no point using them for orders now if they look nice and cheap.

Put in my language = Don't use them at all.

I bought Appleseed again as I didnt get it from DVDSOON for the 7 pound I paid! and I wanted it thats why, I wanted it 3 months ago when it came the hell out! grrr as was waiting for that nice 7 pound dvd, and would have waited ages to save cash, but the canned my order!

so thats why I went and bought it at cdwow and got it in 3 days and its superb worth 14 pound, but would have been even better for 7

Its all legal I am sure, its just nasty and childish and pisses people off

Funny I havent got my package from DVD Pacific yet

I know I chose the International surface mail option, but on most other occasions I've got the package in 6-7 days ish.

Its now 15 days since mine shipped (Simpsons S5 R1 in this case).

If its not got here by Monday I'll send them an e-mail.

They wont so anything as you have to wait a certain time limit, may be 30-60 days. As far as I knew paying for beter post doesnt make them any quicker.

It takes much longer than it used to for DVDs to arrive from DVD Pacific. 15-21 days is average.

They should arrive sooner if you pay for Air Mail, things normally do so I see no reason why this should be any different.

Still I trust DVD Pacific so it doesn't bother me waiting 3 weeks.

DVDSOON were the same, they took your cash for the quicker postage route and the dvds didnt come any faster, a sham that! good job I always stuck with cheapest shipping method, free. DVDPACIFIC seem fine, just read the rules of how long you have to wait before you email them as they wont like that.

What are the best R4 e-tailors?

As far as I can tell they are:

But neither are what I'd call cheap, average really.

I usually hope CD WOW will stock the title I want but this doesn't often happen. For example Eastern Eye titles are about £6 from CD WOW but are a whopping £12 from R4 e-tailors.

I'm hoping the 2046: 2 Disc SE (in a Tin case) due out in October CD WOW will stock but if they don't.
