I've seen 12 Year a Slave in the theater (I bought the book as well; yes the link is my review). It is the only one of the bunch I've seen.

I like Jean Arthur and I like George Steven's as a director (Giant, Shane, A Place in the Sun, Gunga Din, really a great director) so The More The Merrier was something I wanted to see for awhile.

Joseph L. Mankiewicz directed Suddenly Last Summer. Another great director: The Barefoot Contessa, All About Eve, Guys and Dolls.

I have a decent collection of Woody Allen films. So glad to find Interiors used.

Every once in a while I watch a Almodovar film. Talk to Her is my favorite.

Death on the Nile I bought for the actors, but I do not know when I'll get to it.

Song of Sparrows is OOP.
Amour is the only AA nominated film of that year I had not seen.
Three Smart Girls is also a AA nominated film.
Easy Living is the only one I've seen of the bunch. I like Jean Arthur. She has one of the unique voices of her time.

It's interesting to look at the art that goes along with what films you ordered :)

Modern Problems is the only one I have seen, though it has been years.
I got The Hunter because it was recommended to me.
Go Fish was a completely blind buy (I think a dollar).
I got Terminator Salvation because I want to see it before the new one.
Always like watching The Peanut's shorts/movies.

I really wish that upgrade would get here in the States. Criterion's next Taiwanese film (which I will get) is Yang's A Brighter Summer Day.

Its been so long since I've seen ATOZ but it's very long-winded IIRC. Good film though.

Inner Sanctum is an OOP release. I was happy to find it used, though my copy does not have the greatest box (the discs are perfect luckily.)
My friend recommended God Bless America. No idea when I'll get to it.
Been working on a few silent movies lists which White Shadows in the South Sea is on a few.
I'm not sure why I got Devil's Island.
Ebert was a big fan of Brick Lane (plus it was a dollar.)

Nice little bunch here: Kung Fu Bob (of KFF) did the artwork for Zombie Fight Club; I would have bought it just for the name.
I still have not see a Hou Hsiao-Hsien film, this might be my first.
No idea if Revenge of the Green Dragons is any good.
The Tales of Voodoo I found used.

^ I'll have a little more to say on that when I bring a few books over to work.

I did see The Wind Rises which means I have seen all of Miyazaki's full length films.
I saw Maze Runner 2 and After Earth in the theater. I got After Earth mainly for my brother to look at.
The bottom two I have not seen yet. I do like Guy Richie's films so I'm looking forward to The Man from Uncle.
I do like Michael Mann's films, but I have not heard great things on Blackhat.

Ghost in the Shell: This was given to me; but I have seen it before.
TCM Family: I've seen all four films. Lassie Come Home was better than I thought it would be (the fourth one Hills of Home is also quite good), though Flipper was just OK. Both films have several sequels and led to TV series. National Velvet is a well-made horse film also with a young Elizabeth Taylor (like a couple of the Lassie films). I'm not as big on Mr. Limpet as I am with several other Don Knotts films.
Cleopatra 75th Anniversary: this is an upgrade of a version I have of this film. It actually is pretty good and I like Colbert. I bought it for the extras (and it was only a couple of dollars.) The other version I have is in a DeMille boxset.
Big Night is OOP; so luckily I found used
Chocolat: been meaning to watch this.

Upgrades:
Houdini & Those Daring Young Men and Their Jaunty Jalopies BD: Have not seen these two so was happy to find it used and cheap.
Firefox/Heartbreak Ridge BD: I have not seen Firefox, but like Heartbreak Ridge.
Miss Congeniality 1 & 2 BD: Seen both multiple times, I collect all William Shatner films :).
The Fly BD: This was only a few dollars so I though why not. Good film.
A Christmas Carol BD: Not my favorite version (that would be the Sim's version), but still nice to have a BD of.
To Live and Die in LA BD: Vastly underrated movie. One of the greatest car chases of all-time.

Borzage appears to have been a big influence on Chinese cinema especially in Shanghai in the 1930s. For example his Street Angel (1928) was partially redone as Street Angel (1937) :). But I have been reading of others as well.

Image

Here are the movies in the set:

- Lazybones (1925)
- Street Angel (1928)
- 7th Heaven ( Seventh Heaven ) (1927)
- Sunrise ( Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans ) (1927)
+ 94 Minute Movietone Version
+ 79 Minute European Silent Version
- Lucky Star (1929)
- They Had to See Paris (1929)
- City Girl (1930)
- Liliom (1930)
- After Tomorrow (1932)
- Young America (1932)
- Song o' My Heart (1930)
- Bad Girl (1931)
+ River, The (1929)
+ Murnau's 4 Devils: Traces of a Lost Film (Documentary) (2003)
+ Murnau, Borzage and Fox (Documentary) (2008)
