And I don't mean because of a new S.E. or whatever.
Have you sold/traded a film because you didn't think much of it, only to regret it and buy it again? (To give it another chance).
I haven't yet... but quite fancy giving Pi another chance...

Ah but did you buy the DVD and then sell/trade it?HungFist wrote: Full Contact: Didn't like it when I first saw it (I was maybe 15, just having seen my first HK movies... which were The Killer and Hard Boiled...). Now I love it
Because there are dozens of films, which I didn't like when I was younger but love them now. However I'm meaning actually buying the DVD twice.

Yeah I did. The same dvd edition even. And the best of all, I had to do some work to track it down because it had gone OOP by then. (I'm speaking of the original Mei Ah release btw)BiscLimpkit wrote:Ah but did you buy the DVD and then sell/trade it?HungFist wrote: Full Contact: Didn't like it when I first saw it (I was maybe 15, just having seen my first HK movies... which were The Killer and Hard Boiled...). Yes, Dazed and Confused.
I had the R2 then sold it when I pre-ordered the R1 which I was lead to believe had a director's commentary... disc turned up... no commentary and really shitty extras... I was sooooooo pissed I flogged it... and then needing the film again bought another copy of the R2... now I'm wating to get the Criterion at a sensible price.

Game Of Death in its original form has but two redeeming features; the fight actually involving Bruce Lee and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and John Barry's fantastic score.EvaUnit02 wrote:Game of Death is absolute shit. As far as the HKL version goes, yeah, the extended sequence involving the various fighting styles makes it a worthwhile purchase.
As far as films go that I regret getting rid of... American Psycho. I really wish I hadn't rid myself of the film. I watched it twice and could never envisage myself watching it again, so I traded it in against something.
I now really want to watch the film again...

I thought so, I was just clarifying something with you. Re-read my original post... I want to know of films that you re-bought because you didn't think much of the film... not because of a new S.E.Markgway wrote: Loved it. Re-read my post. It was because of the crappy extras.
If we're rebuying a film due to extras then we're all guilty of double/tripple dipping.
I did that with Infernal Affairs... bought the original HK disc, sold it and bought the L.E., sold that and bought the original HK disc again... and I sold that around 2 years back....

Even Sammo's version of the film couldn't have saved it. The forced angles that are used ruin the film, because they just highlight the fact that Lee wasn't actually there and that the story had nothing in common with his original idea.EvaUnit02 wrote:Listen to Bey's commentary.
There wasn't even much of a physical likeness between Lee and the actor (name escapes me at the moment) used to play his character. Granted, there weren't (and still aren't) many who had Lee's physique, but the producers could've tried harder.
As far as Barry's score goes, yup, I've seen and heard the Bond films, but it still doesn't stop Game Of Death having a classy score.
