Re: The Amazing Spider-Man - Trilogy Reboot - Teaser Trailer
It looks better than the 2002 original and possibly/hopefully darker. Super-man aside, I prefer my superhero films to be darker or at least be edgy. I was never a fan of Raimi's versions. They were two bright and colourful, family friendly and Tobey Maguire was a poor choice. I didn't bother with the third.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man - Trilogy Reboot - Teaser Trailer
It looks horrible, but I think I already mentioned some of my reasons for not being excited about this in a dedicated thread about this movie somewhere?
Anyway, the teaser-trailer left me as completely cold. You see a mature full-grown skinny mature male model guy in the role of 14-15 year old tiny geeky Peter Parker(!) ...
.. it looks overly dark and serious to me...
... and it just reeks of 'emo'.
No hopes for this at all. I wish they would have taken this multimillion dollar budget and had invested it in a couple of seasons of great quality CGI shows about Spidey instead.

The trailer's final shot was nicely done... but why reboot (remake) something that's only a decade old?
Is the audience really thirsting for another Spidey flick?
What's next? A Harry Potter reboot?

You're probably right... Have you seen the trailer for the TV series of Teen Wolf? Bring back Michael J. Fox!luckystars wrote:For the Twilight generation. Simple.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man - Trilogy Reboot - Teaser Trailer
Spider-Man films are a cash cow.
The studio is overlooking that Raimi, a perfect cast and near flawless production had *everything* to do with it being a mega box office success.
They think the public at large have the memory of a goldfish, and that noone will think 'oh it's got a bit like the feel of Twilight/Harry Potter etc.' - a cynical move.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man - Trilogy Reboot - Teaser Trailer
I think Peter is meant to be older than 14/15 Yi... but agree it seems too dark for an origin story and too "emo", is this going to be the cycle now? 3 movies then back at the beginning? What's the point? We all know the origin story.
Spidey did get dark(er) in the Raimi films I guess but not right at the start.
I agree with Mark - the Raimi films are less than a decade old. No need for a reboot!

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man - Trilogy Reboot - Teaser Trailer
Peter is a highschool student and still pretty damn young in the comics when he gets bitten by the spider. I'm not sure but I believe he's around 14 or 15 or something like that. I'll see if i CAN FIND SOME INFO OH DEAR OH DEAR IT SEEMS LIKE i ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE CAPSLOCK WHILE i WAS WRITING THIS SENTENCE AND i'M TOO DARN LAZY TO GO BACK AND CORRECT IT OH DAMN....grim_tales wrote:I think Peter is meant to be older than 14/15 Yi... but agree it seems too dark for an origin story and too "emo", is this going to be the cycle now? 3 movies then back at the beginning? edit: In Ultimate Spider-Man he's 15 years old when he gets bitten, so the original Parker would have been around the same age...

The actor playing Peter Parker is 27.
I guess Hollywood doesn't have any good teenage actors.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man - Trilogy Reboot - Teaser Trailer
Never been that interested in Spiderman, except slightly interested in the Japanese Spiderman.
Raimi's first film was passable, though (on a second try. First time I gave up after 10 minutes). The sequel was pretty bad. To be honest I can't remember why I even watched them, although I'm pretty sure it was Shing's fault
Anyway, this new one doesn't look any more interesting to me. And I've already seen the best superhero movie of 2011, so now I'll be looking forward to 2012 and new Batman.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man - Trilogy Reboot - Teaser Trailer
If I was pimping out the Spiderman films it was a long time ago! Although I do thinks pts 1&2 are the best of the "new wave" of comic book films to this day and very faithful to the tone of the original comics. Part 3 is mostly a pisstake on Raimi's part and wildly uneven as a result (I honestly don't think you're meant to take the "emo" stuff seriously).HungFist wrote:Raimi's first film was passable, though (on a second try. This new film I hold out judgement until it comes out, there's nothing "moody" about 500 Days of Summer so I'm prepared to give Marc Webb the benefit of the soubt and assume that recent trailer is a by-product of a studio desperate to appeal to the Twilight fanbase.
Oh and Denjin Zaborger looks awesome...

I agree with Shing, in Pt 3 the bits with bad/emo Peter are played for laughs even then
Yi, fair do's re the characters age. I always thought he was older than that, maybe at college/uni or something or I'm going by the animated show in the 90's.

I like Mirror's Edge, but I haven't played it much yet...
I'm only in the 3rd or 4th level or something. Don't know exactloy. It's been a while. I loved the whole free-running on the rooftops but the shooting-elements kinda bring it down, so I'd rather would have seen it as a pure 'racing' game instead of trying to thrown in the extra story and guns and such...

Don't use guns then, there's a trophy/achievement for completing the game without shooting a single person, I got itYi-Long wrote:but the shooting-elements kinda bring it down, so I'd rather would have seen it as a pure 'racing' game instead of trying to thrown in the extra story and guns and such...
