Kino Lorber has gotten the rights and they will be releasing a special edition Blu-Ray of No Retreat, No Surrender, which marked the first major role for Jean-Claude Van Damme and film debut of soap opera star Kurt McKinney in the lead role.

The Special Edition BD will have both the International cut and the New World Pictures US cut, the latter which cuts some dialogue scenes but add a scene involve Jason and Kelly's date.

The only confirmed extra so far will be an interview with Kurt McKinney, but there is more to come.

According to Criterion Forum, Kino Lorber is planning a February 21, 2017 release date for the Special Edition Blu-Ray of No Retreat, No Surrender.

Doesn't Kim Tae Jung play Bruce Lee's ghost in this one? :)

He did indeed.

I can't imagine what the Lee estate made of it!

Compared to Bruce Lee & I, No Retreat, No Surrender is a sensitive tribute. :D

Actually, it's rubbish, but I understand the nostalgia appeal (like most I saw this numerous times on VHS when I was a kid).

Pity New World didn't have the rights to the superior Raging Thunder (don't ask me who does?).

Nah, I don't hate EVERYTHING. I did say I liked Raging Thunder, and Blood Brothers isn't bad either.

That is up in the air. Amsell Entertainment had gotten the rights in 1996 after Shapiro-Glickenhaus Entertainment (the original U.S. distributor of Raging Thunder aka NRNS II) had liquidated. But Amsell Entertainment shut down in 2010 after the death of company founder Allan Solomon. Chances are they will have to go directly to Seasonal Films.

Maybe if the NRNS Blu-Ray sells well, Kino Lorber can find the rights to Raging Thunder and release the film on Blu-Ray as well.

I suspect that NRNS would have to sell EXCEEDINGLY well to justify Kino tracking the rights to other Seasonal titles, which, like you say, have presumably reverted to their original owner. I don't even know if HD masters currently exist for them. I think at the moment it's a long shot.
