Hmmm... do I keep the space saving 3 BD pack with Raw Deal, Red Heat and TR?
Thanks Mark for the news

Also being re-released by Lionsgate in the US, and this has got me interested in upgrading from my DVD:

Re: UK: Total Recall SE (July 16th)
Hmmm... might purchase when/if it goes down in price - I thought the transfer on the BD I have was certainly good enough - so this a 3rd transfer for this film?

September 3rd. Supposed to have a brand new transfer by the same company which worked on Alien/Aliens restoration.bradavon wrote:Stuff Total Recall and release Terminator!

Aha, guess I'll finally be checking out The Terminator again then for the first time in like a decade.Xenon wrote:September 3rd. Supposed to have a brand new transfer by the same company which worked on Alien/Aliens restoration.

Interesting steelbook artwork for The Terminator. I think I like it, despite having the wrong eye glowing.

Are we sure that release is the remaster or another reissue of the old disc?
Definitely upgrading Terminator if it is, and maybe Total Recall if it is a new transfer as well.

What's your source for that please?Xenon wrote:September 3rd. Supposed to have a brand new transfer by the same company which worked on Alien/Aliens restoration.
There's a Terminator Blu-ray thread here: https://www.bulletsnbabesdvd.com/forums/ ... =22&t=6183
I like it too. I doubt I'll pick it up though, it's a Play exclusive.Keung wrote:Interesting steelbook artwork for The Terminator. I think I like it, despite having the wrong eye glowing: http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/3129 ... oduct.html
A 5.1 AND a Mono track . I've never advocated 5.1 alone, unlike some people who advocate Mono only (screw everyone else right?).IronMonkey wrote:With a 5.1 track!
I still don't see why it would remotely be a re-issue. That disc is MPEG2 with PCM 5.1 and that's simply never going to get a release in 2012.grim_tales wrote:Are we sure that release is the remaster or another reissue of the old disc?
I'd pick up a remastered Terminator Blu-ray in a heart beat. I don't care about extras.

Re: UK: Total Recall SE (July 16th)
I've been wondering about Total Recall
Is the US BD (the forthcoming one) likely to be Region Free? The pre order price at Amazon.com is $9.86 but Play and some UK sites are selling the UK version for a laughable £17.99 so thought it would be better to go with the USA disc.

Around 50% of Lionsgate releases are region-locked so no way of knowing yet.grim_tales wrote:I've been wondering about Total Recall

Re: UK: Total Recall SE (July 16th)
Found an edition from Holland labelled "Uncut Edition" here - this is unlikely to be an X rated cut but not sure why its labelled like this?

Re: UK: Total Recall SE (July 16th)
Here's the full list of extras (at least for the US edition) BTW:
Special Features
ALL-NEW Interview with Director Paul Verhoeven (exclusive to release)
ALL-NEW Restoration Comparison- a look at high-definition transfer from original film negative (exclusive to release)
"Models and Skeletons: The Special Effects Of Total Recall" featurette
Audio commentary with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Paul Verhoeven
"Imagining Total Recall"- documentary featuring behind-the-scenes interviews with the film's stars and special effects specialists
"Making of" featurette

So its the DVD SE extras plus a new interview/featurette - restored from the original negative eh? I thought the BD I had looked good (based on a superior French transfer apparently), it'll be interesting to see the remaster.

Re: UK: Total Recall SE (July 16th)
£25 is a really steep RRP IMO considering how old the film is and most of the extras are old. I'll wait for a bit til the price comes down.

It is a triple play remember and those always artificially cost more.
