A list of Must have Blu-Rays (Quality-wise)

Post by Yi-Long »

Just wondering, but is there anywhere a list to quickly see what are the must-have BR's to get with the best AV-quality as well as the quality of the movie itself!?

Some movies are good, but don't have a decent release on BR, and some BR's are absolutely stunning, yet they're a crappy movie. Which movies are both good in terms of AV, as well as the movie itself? Any recommendations?

Just some thoughts,

John Carpenters 'Elvis' is awesome.
Just watched Spider-Man 2 and the Blu-Ray is flawless...best film in the series too.

This is so open to personal opinion. Cue Romero to disagree with every choice given.

Casino Royale and Amelie Australian both look excellent to me.

Casino Royale UK isn't perfect ofcourse, since it's slightly cut. The French and Dutch releases should be perfect though.

Isn't Gladiator supposed to be pretty damn good after they replaced the first batch with a new transfer!?

It looks ace to me. I was talking specifically from a picture point of view. Casino Royale sounds ace too.

Yeah, image-wise it should be perfect, but I really meant releases that are great in EVERY department (uncut, proper subs, great AV-quality, maybe some nice extra's and must-have making-offs, etc etc... :) )

Any Casino Royale Deluxe BD not sourced from the USA or UK prints then :D. As said, Amelie Australian BD looks excellent too and has pretty much all the extras, except the commentary.

I'm listing 'North by Northwest - 50th Anniversary Edition' again, because I just came across the special features. Damn, that's one fine disc! Awesome image quality and to me probably the most intelligent Hitchcock film I have watched.

I'm ashamed to say I have never seen it, but sadly there are many classics I haven't seen yet...

Oh well... on the positive side, that means there is still lots of great stuff for me to discover :)
