Yojimbo and Sanjuro in March, Seven Samurai later in 2010.

Great news, as the Toho BDs have reportedly been not so impressive. I even recall reading a user comment at amazon jp that said he preferred the Criterion dvd of Seven Samurai to the Toho BD because the Criterion is much cleaner. And now Criterion says that their Seven Samurai BD takes time because they have to do a lot of cleaning.

Re: Criterion Kurosawa BDs
It must be a tricky film to restore. One I will definitely get on BD.

Lionsgate Ran BD:

Would've been nicer without edge enhancement.

Waaaay too much EE/sharpening, ruins the transfer. If you saw that on a projector screen Hung you would fucking weep.

I wouldn't need a projector screen to weep. Thankfully I'm no upgrade maniac and will happily stick with the Criterion dvd.

Re: Criterion Kurosawa BDs
Isn't there a UK Ran BD too? The same Studio Canal range as the USA one. EE aside the Ran USA BD does look better than the Optimum UK DVD. Which as I understand it, is the best DVD. I own the Criterion myself and am happy with it, despite it's flaws.
