I'm pretty sure that having to grow up in a hellhole like Scottland is a worse influence on a young kid, than watching the occasional 'violent movie'.

Hell... just watch through the window outside and you'll see stabbings by cross-dressing hairy men.

Btw, I do NOT think it's a FACT that this ...
Truth is: Most parents who let their kids watch anything adult at a young age are bad parents in other areas too and their kids grow up to little bastards.
is true.

I'm pretty sure that there are also alot of parents who KNOW what their kids can and can NOT handle, and make their decision based on that knowledge, instead of not giving a shit.
Also, Im sure a lot of parents will forbid their children this kinda entertainment, but at the same time are NOT good parents, by lying to them, hiding truths to them, or smuthering them or bossing them around.
I think we all know those kids who have those 'over-protective' parents who stop loving their kids whenever they dare to bring home a 'bad' report-card.
Usually, you will see those kids having an extreme case of 'puberty', where they go against their parents wishes extremely hard, and just rebelling against that smuthering and baby-ing.

Nope, can't guarantee it for all... but just like I can't guarantee that all children who see R-rated films will become crime breakers and serial killers. My parents were always very responsible, and made sure I was well mannered, helped others, did good in school, and basically made sure I was the best person I could be to myself and others. So with as much responsibility as they had with me in EVERY other area, I think they were able to afford a little "wiggle room" when it came to movies.

Optomist.

Bad parenting comes in many forms. But I think exposing them to violent movies at a young age is just one of them.

KYTV wasn't porn, it was a comedy taking the piss out of cable TV.
Well the funny thing was he let me watch one Carrot gig, but then not the regular series, and decided Beetlejuice was unsuitable for me and my brother (my brother is 4 years younger than me, he would have been about 7/8 then).
My dad and I watched Red Dwarf and I was allowed to watch HIGNFY when I was about 11/12 or something (but I didnt really get the jokes in it then).

Not film related but when i was around 11 i suffered from a nervous disorder,it was around the time of The Black Panther crimes and i became obsessed he was going to come to our house and get me  Serious stuff,i wouldn't sleep on my own at night and was seeing a psychiatrist, what cured me was actually being put in hospital because of it,i walked out after 1 day and fought myself back to normal. But strangely i had seen a few adult films at the time and they never bothered me :?

"I believe that this transfer is Kickboxers' anamorphic widescreen debut, at least in North America"

No, the long OOP HBO DVD was correctly anamorphic.

"it's hard not to notice frequent specks and spots on top of some obvious banding issues"

What's a 'banding issue'?

"Skin tones tend to lean towards the pink side and often times look waxy. It looks like a fair bit of DVNR has been applied here, as while there is some noticeable print damage there's no grain whatsoever and the image often times look very fake. The image is, more often than not, soft and lacking in fine detail and what we're left with is a Blu-ray that is only a slight improvement over its DVD counterpart in terms of clarity and resolution."

Bah! But then did we really expect better from Lionsgate?

"The sole audio option on this disc is a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track"

If distributor arseholes included the original stereo mix there wouldn't be a problem with the levels would there???

Banding issues are one of those thing people see or they dont, its rare on discs, and I would say the vast majority will not notice, but thoese who do it can ruin a transfer :) think of it as waves flowing over the screen (not quite sure how you would descrive it to be honest).

There are shots from the disc here, an upgrade from the dvd thats for sure, but the niggles may put many off.

It's digitisation introduced over what should be a smooth transition in shade/tone of colour. It's also known as digital contouring, which might give you an idea of what it looks like. I'm certain you've noticed it in transfers before Mark but never had a specific name for it - it frequently pops up in animated films.

This is an extreme example:

This is an example from the UK Franklyn BD, which has quite prominent banding issues:

Eva Green is a babe.

But not even seeing her muff was worth sitting thru The Dreamers for.

Are you kidding?! The Dreamers is ace. She spends most of the last hour of the film completely naked. Good enough for me! And yes, Eva is a babe! :)

The Dreamers was pretentious bollocks. It had absolutely nothing to say about anything. It's vapid naval-gazing masquerading as political art. And Eva's character was such an up-herself weirdo bitch that she began to lose her attractiveness. Hopefully she'll appear naked in a good film at some point.

Fair enough. A one-handed review... I get it. But you can't say it's an "ace" film.
