You find everything pretentious .
I liked it but no way would I get a Criterion of it. I sold the DVD ages ago.

I think Charlie Kaufman is probably the most genius screenwriter around, don't see how it can be pretentious when it's genuinely brilliant.

Re: Criterion Blu-ray Plans Revealed
The whole concept is treated pretentiously. It's a ridiculous idea that should have been played an all out farce, but instead we get this indie, hipster, aren't we so clever mind fuck that believes it's actually saying something. The characters are Kooky with a capital K (Cusack is a puppeteer FFS - NO ONE is a puppeteer!). I didn't care about the characters or buy into the absurd plot - which would be fine if the film were funny, but it isn't, at least not much. A portal into someone's head? Malkovich's head? Why? What's the point? Does eccentric equal interesting? I seem to be in the minority on this so I guess I just don't do quirkiness or whimsy. I don't rate Wes Anderson either and Mumblecore isn't my thing. I suppose that all ties together.

You take everything so seriously. I bet the film-makers weren't taking as serious as you are. It's a Spike Jonze film btw.

I'll say it another way, it's not a Wes Anderson film.

Thanks Salty. I'm happy with my Criterion DVD.
I'd pick up Traffic Criterion for that though.

Re: Criterion Blu-ray Plans Revealed
I recall the DVD having poor black levels so it'll be nice to see it properly.
