The UK Skynet edition sounds OK to me, I just want 3 cuts and good extras/image :)

Just get the old UK Blu ray for £6.99 from play

http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/5572 ... oduct.html

(or less with vouchers, quidco links), the image is better than the Noise Reduced Skynet version. Who needs extras anyway, its the image I care for and it looks that bit better for me.

Yeah, out of the two I'd go for the original Optimum BD, but I'm personally waiting for an ultimate ultimate honestly this is the most ultimate edition to come out, my DVD will do in the meantime.

Yeah, is it really necessary to own 3 cuts? The Special Edition is the one for me, don't you have a favourite?

Probably its the SE (not the one with the happy ending), it's nice to have 3 cuts though. :)

and not if it costs double the price :D I will NEVER watch the theatrical version ever again, so thats pointless to me and that super dooper pointless extended cut is also worthless.

The directors cut is the Only version of the film for me :) still if someone else thinks they will acctually watch 3 versions, then go for it.

It's not the director's cut though is it, it's always been called the Special Edition and Cameron prefers the Theatrical cut...

I prefer the 136m theatrical cut, which is why I bought the original Lionsgate BD (there was no Skynet Ed option at the time). I think the Special Ed (as Gasterpod said it's not the director's cut) is good too, but not necessarily better. I understand why Grim wants both though. I believe all of the releases thus far are flawed in some way so it's not like you have a perfect choice against the rest.

The Skynet Ed. BD is the only way to get 3 versions? (Not buying the huge US BD Synet Ed.)

Yes correct. I don't think it's called the Skynet Edition in the UK though btw.

The USA Huge Edition includes all the previous DVDs too, which strikes me as really dumb.

True.
The cover says Skynet Edition BTW.

The Skynet BD is the USA SE BD.
grim_tales wrote:How come the US BD is 6 DVDs and the UK BD is 2? I just thought I can get ebay my R1 UE DVD now :)
In America they release a 2 Disc SE (which we got here through Optimum) and a 6 disc box set. The only one Play you linked to is the USA SE BD.

I think I'm the only one on this forum whose actually seen both and I preferred the new SE transfer. Yes it's not as sharp and a bit too soft but likewise the older transfer has muddier colours. Frankly neither Transfer is perfect though.

Besides the only other way to get the Theatrical is the piss-poor ancient original single disc USA BD. Grim also wants all 3 cuts, so he has no choice.

The old Lionsgate release is not "piss-poor". There's actually very little between any of the transfers. They vary slightly in sharpness, detail, DNR, and edge-enhancement, but are largely very close in quality. You would have to have a "50 screen before you start noticing any real difference.

MPEG2, Single Layer, only DD5.1 (at DVD bitrates level too!) or DTS (which according to the DVD Talk review at least is broken), captures only say so much. Enough said!

p.s - According to that link the USA SE BD is Region A. I didn't even notice.

Specs only tell half the story.

It's true caps are only an indication but you can clearly see there's very little immediate difference so hardly piss poor.

Didn't know about the "broken" DTS though.

I'm sure I've read others have said it's fine so the reviewer could have just had a dodgy copy. I've only read of it there. It says if you choose DTS it causes the video to break up, not so with the DD5.1.
