Is there Life outside our planet?
Today on the news, some of you might hear, that Scientist have found a new Super Earth. Well my question is that, do Alien exists outside of this Earth?
In the mid 90's, When UFO was big, I read up on Area 51, Roswell, Majestic 12, and still believe something happened in 1947, the story just changed too much to be a weather balloon. I think this universe is just too big, for us to be the only one living here. So yeah for me Aliens exist.

For me as well. Ofcourse there is life outside this planet. It would be foolish to think otherwise. If they ever visited earth? I don't know. There are strories going back way to ancient times where there have been depictions of aliens visiting us.
Plus lots of recent stories as well which cant be/havent been explained.
Just look at what we've learned about Mars in the last few years, 15 years ago every scientists was absolutely sure there couldnt be life there, cause there was no oxygen and no water. ever since we have learned that there IS water, there IS life (however basic it might be), and life on earth might even have originated from Mars.
So to be honest, we dont know shit yet.
I remember 12 years ago when I had this discussion with a girlfriend of mine, where I said that for all we know, the universe might just be a huge big 'person/animal/god/whatever... something LIVING... and all th planets and stars and possible life on those planets etc, might just be very small cells of a huge huge HUGE big entity. And maybe there are universes in each and everyone of us.
We just dont KNOW much. We think we do, cause we give everything scientific names, and we have labs and big lenses to see the farriest away things, and the tiniest things, etc... but we still dont know shit.
There is even ALOT of stuff still on this earth which is still unknown to us. Worlds we have never seen. Stuff and animals on the bottom of the oceans, cave-worlds 5 km's down. Cave-worlds under the ocean, etc etc.
Anyway, yeah, I most definately believe there is life outside this planet. Maybe even human life, because if we're all a result of evolution, of the circumstances, etc... then it should be normal that planets which have the same circumstances as ours, also have a simular evolution. And there are supposedly thousands, if not more, planets simular to earth.
Maybe gravity will be different, so they will have other bones and other ways of moving around. Flora and fauna will be different, etc etc etc... but still...
It's all very interesting stuff. First the philosophy alone is interesting, but also ofcourse the whole science and folklore and rumours etc. There are so many ways to approach the issue, which is fun. I can understand why people devote their whole lifes to stuff like this.

Being an ex-astronomer and still a scientist I definitely believe in life elsewhere. What form that life will take I don't have the slightest clue, but I'm sure that not only will there be life, but there will also be intelligent life.
As has been stated, the arrogance to assume that we are the only life around given the sheer size of the galaxy, never mind the Universe, is mind-boggling. Even if life forming is less than a million to one chance, there should still be billions of other life forms outside of Earth.
Someone stated ancient civilisations depicting aliens visiting us, or UFOs... given how naive they must have been in those days to the whole concept of the universe and the size of space, the fact that they have these images suggests that we may even have been visited in the past.
I don't assume to know enough about it to know whether we are likely to have been visited, but I certainly think there is intelligent life out there.

Aside from Eva's startlingly accurate statement (have you seen the picture of him opening his fridge?! A real Zuul moment there), it's very reasonable to say that that there is life 'out there'. On a probability basis alone, it would be shocking if our world was the only one with any life inhabiting it.

Not sure yet. I need to calculate...Slasher13 wrote:do Alien exists outside of this Earth?
The number of variables that have to be exactly right to allow both life AND evolution to happen is huge. Astronomical, even.
But, since the universe is pretty much infinite, it is highly likely that other planets in other galaxies are populated.
I doubt aliens will ever visit Earth, though. Any species that's capable of inter-stellar space travel probably won't care about our shitty little planet.

Can't say I've read any Arthur C Clarke in the better part of a decade. The idea that there could possibly be life on Europa has been hypothesised by scientists for years.EvaUnit02 wrote:Someone's been reading too much Arthur C. it's pretty conceited and arrogant to think we are the only lifeforms in the universe really.
I've actually studied some amount into this. and even back to Babylonian and Sumerian times there have been drawings of interstellar beings. actually it is believed there was once a planet called "Tiamat" where the asteroid belt is, and that this was inhabited. in texts they refer to "Enki"(Ea) and "Anu"(An) (?) as "gods" depictions show them as almost serpent like. it is suggested through texts that these are actually "aliens" that have visited earth, to the extent that some of the constructions found of that time are incredibly advanced, above what they thought of this era. Geometrically and structurally. as well as mathematically they were advanced far beyond what scientist thought previously, just like the Mayan civilization.
