Windows 7 E Edition is killed off!

Post by bradavon »

"Those who pre-ordered Windows 7 "E" through a recent discount offer will get the full version, as Microsoft had promised. However, Microsoft plans to now sell Windows 7 upgrades in Europe and also offer a higher-priced full version (for those without an earlier copy of Windows)--similar to what it is doing in the rest of the world."

This is fantastic news. Exactly what I wanted. The Full version of Windows 7 HP for £49.99 (it's still at Argos for this price).

I bet we'll be seeing the ballot screen on ALL versions of Windows 7 sold in Europe. It's a much better idea than the silly E editions. Talk about a confusing mess though!

I was surprised when I learnt E wouldn't have a browser at all, seemed completely stupid. This is a far better solution.

Agreed. It strikes of MS rushing out a solution to appease the EU, which incidentally it didn't please them. It looks like the new ballot solution has though.
