La Haine (France, 1995) - first time: 3.5/5

The acting is good, very realistic (I thought the opening parts were like a documentary with the riot scenes) but none of the characters are likeable and it's a tough watch. I think it would have helped more if I understood more of the background of the time, people seemed disaffected, bored, angry, etc.

Fantasia (USA, 1940) - first time: 3.5/5

I think this is the first time I've ever seen this from start to finish (that I remember anyway). Some parts were quite surreal and the animation was quite beautiful - I liked The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Dance of the Hours and Night on Bald Mountain parts. The part where the 'soundtrack' of the film (a single line) is animated to show the music of instruments is great and way ahead of it's time.

Silence of the Lambs (USA, 1991, first time viewing): 4/5

Anthony Hopkins' psychaiatrist (?) pyschopath cannibal is really scary in a psychological thriller/horror, in which Jodie Foster tries to use his character to find and trap another killer.
Did Buffalo Bill/Jamie Gun want to make themselves into a woman or hate something about themselves?
Some very effective scares The part when the cop who got shot/almost died is really Lecter underneath.. :o

The Vikings (USA, 1958) - BD: 4/5

Exciting adventure about Viking brothers (Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis) who both desire a beautiful princess (Janet Leigh). Quite brutal for it's time.

Kung Fu Panda (USA, 2008): 4/5

Good fun, the story is really pretty similar to a kung fu movie :)
