The White Dragon - 3.5/5
Some bad scenes here and there, but otherwise a very nice film. Good humour, beautiful visuals, decent action and some nice romatic stuff. Not a memorable film, but very entertaining nevertheless.

I think the sexploitation genre was explained nicely by HungFist. Although I did mean to include the extreme stuff by Miike in that category, as he quite often uses profound sexual/violent imagery in his films (Izo, Gozu, Visitor Q etc). Thanks. And yeah, we should include those films too in this p...

Deltamac's SPL is almost perfect in my opinion, probably the best quality HK dvd I own. The only bad thing is the lack of good extras, but I'm too busy to watch extras anyway

What would Ichi The Killer count as? I'm not quite sure. I never though of it as an exploitation film, but maybe someone else does. Personally I think it's just a violent comedy. Japanese exploitation is actually a genre that is very hard to define. For example Red Classroom is 10% exploitation and...

I've never heard of any of those movies Hung Damn. You should check them out. Sex and Fury has one of the best swordfight scenes in movie history. It's also a visually stunning film with a great soundtrack. If you are unfamiliar with the genre, this is a perfect film to strat with. The sequel (Fema...

I still have not got Azumi 2, may be the best option? Stay away from the UK disc. The picture quality is awful. The japanese disc is pretty good, but doesn't have english subs (I have timed subs for it, though) Now they're a decent non-UK European label. Lots of decent films with English subs. Thei...

It seems I'm the only one to vote 'violence/sexual' exploitation'. The japanese 1970's exploitation cinema is by far by favourite genre. yeah what counts as 'violence/sexual' exploitation bisc? :alien: Probably films like Sex & Fury, Zero Woman: Red Handcuffs, School of the Holy Beast, Angel Guts se...

Yeah. It's been getting a lot of "not so great" reviews (usually 2½/5) but I liked it a lot and wanted to get a better release of it.

EDIT: I'm talking about the 2001 version.

Shanghai Blues subs would be awesome. I haven't seen the film, but that's only because there's no subs are available.

Does anyone have any info about the quality of the french release of The Isle (double pack with Peppermint Candy)? Anamorphic, right?

Picnic (R2J)
Crying Fist (R3KR / Limited Edition)
Dance of the Drunk Mantis (Mei Ah)
Vital (R1)
Red Shadow (R1) (you can get UK disc for 3,99£ from play.com, but it has no extras and it suffers from ghosting)

Thanks for the info, Tom.

I think I'll be getting the R2J after all. I don't want to take any risks. I already owned the R1 disc and I don't want to end up buying the same film thrice (that happened with Gohatto; first R2UK, then R2J, now I'm saving for R2FR  )

I'm probably gonna buy Media Blaster's Aragami (hopefully a port of the japanese disc) but I'm interested in the french 2LDK. I was planning to buy the terribly expensive R2J, but now I'm gonna wait till I hear more about the quality of the french release.
