Re: What asian film/series have you just seen.. marks out of 5

Totally agree with you on Killing Machine Hungfist. If you are going to call a movie Killing Machine, then it better be a great movie. Ninja Terminator- I felt like watching a goofy movie tonight, and of course I picked this. I've talked about this movie so many times I don't want to bore you guys. ...

Conan the Destroyer (USA, 1984) [DVD] - 3/5 Solid adventure film doesn't reach the quality of the original, but is an entertaining watch anyway. Arnold is in amazing shape, the special effects are fantastic and the film manages an entirely convincing fantasy world. I kept thinking throughout the fi...

Suspiria- funny story about this movie. I didn't realize it until halfway through watching it, but I saw this about 15 years ago and I hated it. But I liked it this time around. Interesting story that seems to wrap up a bit too quick. I'm not a fan of the use of colors. The sets are nice but I don't...

Had to watch The Master Touch again. This is even better the second time. I forgot to mention that it has a super car chase. It's no Blazing Magnum, but it's probably a top 10 car chase. Maybe top 5.

Runaway Blues 1989- action to this max in this over violent triad thriller. The story is non existent and at least half of the running time is intense action or fight scenes. The action is very well done, but the action scenes tend to go on too long and you never care what happens because all the ch...

I think The Villain is a little bit above average. The main reason I have it is to bulk up my Arnold collection. It's not a bad addition. Better than Junior that's for sure.

Violent Naples 1976- have you guys ever seen a good movie from Umberto Lenzi? I've never seen a bad one from him (except Ghosthouse). His movies are technically well made, have good ideas sometimes, but they never turn out all that interesting. Violent Naples is an exception. He nails this one. It's...

The Master Touch 1972- superb action/heist movie from California and Buddy Goes West director Michele Lupo. Re: What general film/series have you just seen.. marks out of 5

I need to see Samurai Cop. I've heard about it for years. For the most part I think the term so bad it's good fits. But I've had to change my mind on this one time. I used to call Ninja Terminator a bad movie, but it just has too many positive and fun things going for it. The fights are badass, Hwan...

Re: What general film/series have you just seen.. marks out of 5

Miami Connection sounds right up my alley. I've heard about movies in recent years that are made to be so bad they're good on purpose, and that doesn't make any sense to me. You can't try and make a movie that's as laughably bad as Manos or Kung Fu Fever. It has to happen naturally. Hatchet for the ...

Mark of the Devil 1970- pointless German movie about accusing women of witchcraft and torturing them. This is the worst movie I've seen in awhile (and I just watched Criminally Insane 1 and 2 a couple days ago). There was one funny part where a guy complains about being tired from torturing people a...

Nice, good to know. I've seen Bird w Crystal Plumage, Tenebre, and I got Opera coming in the mail. I'll eventually get to all of Argento's early works. Hopefully you get to see Footprints. It's a classy movie, unlike Macabre. The Shameless DVD is the way to go, although I think the cut full screen v...

Mark I've noticed that you've seen a ton of Italian movies. Do you have a favorite non western? And have you seen Macabre and Footprints on the Moon? I'd be interested to see what you think of them. These 2 movies are so strange that I wouldn't be surprised if you gave them 0 stars, and I wouldn't b...

The Hudsucker Proxy (1994-USA-UK-Germany) ***½ Only the Coen Bros. could make a mainstream Hollywood film so true to their own auteurist principles and style. Very clever, very witty, and impossible to dislike. The cast - Robbins, Leigh, Newman, hit the bullseye with their performances. A unique pi...

Just finished the 32 episode value box set of Dead Man's Gun. Good show. Didn't blow me away but worth the 10 bucks. Sorry I haven't been around here lately. Whenever I have a lot of movies to watch I tend to pop in the next movie in right away instead of going on the forums.

Re: What general film/series have you just seen.. marks out of 5

Haven't had much time for the forums lately. Too many movies to watch and a new Fire Eblem game. Definitely not a bad thing. This Fire Emblem is easily one of the best in the series. A couple good movies I've watched recently are Triad Story 1990 and Macabre 1980. Macabre is insane and finally I fou...

... Le Samourai 1967- I decided to check out another Delon movie. This was rated pretty high so I took a chance on it. This is the kind of movie I don't like. Slow moving, and not much happens. But I'm surprised to say I liked it quite a bit. It reminds me a little of the spaghetti western A Strang...

As you know I'm a big fan of Walker. So bad it's good.. That's harsh. I just enjoyed it for what it was. I wouldn't say it was bad at all. It's funny because the show regularly repeats here in the UK and my mum and grandparents (neither Chuck or martial arts fans) really got into it. It has that br...

Re: The Longest Nite (1998: Patrick Yau Tat-chi: Hong Kong)

Interesting stuff about Patrick Yau. I hope he's doing good. He co-directed The Longest Nite, so he's pretty much a god to me. Johnnie To said that the music was inspired by Midnight Express? It has the same music that's used in the chase scene (well, actually it's from the longer 8 minute version o...

A Force of One (1978-USA) **½ Tame martial arts thriller (with Chuck Norris) plays like a slightly above average TV movie or series pilot. Watchable, but uninspired, especially the action. From an action standpoint (not necessarily all aspects of the film but you can include those if you like) do y...

Three Men to Kill 1980- my second time watching this. It's in the Grindhouse volume 2 20 movie set. This set has about 15 Italian movies, so I always figured it was Italian. But this time watching I was interested enough to look up the amazing lead actor and see who he is. It's Alain Delon, a guy I'...

Catch Me if You Can- I was surprised when I watched the bonus features that this is based on a true story. Funny to see one of the world's greatest thiefs talk so freely about his past crimes. I think he said he's a college professor now. King of Kings- this is a Joseph Kuo swordplay from 1969. It w...
