Cool.
It's actually not too bad family fun. I did go in with very low expectations but I surprisingly enjoyed it. It wasn't my choice but the female friend I went with wanted to see it.
It's the sort of stuff Barrymore and Grant can do in their sleep.

I have the 3 Disc SE. I plan to sell it when I can playback my HD-DVD. The new scenes are good but add very little to the film.
£5 for a single disc DVD doesn't cut the mustard when you can buy HD-DVDs for that price. Still DVDs do now have a stronger market value and the HD-DVDs sales won't go on forever.

Thanks for the link Salty. I went for Serenity HD-DVD with £2 off. I was struggling to find a Play bargain.
I watched it last night on DVD, good film. My hopes were relatively low. I've not seen Firefly but anyone involved with Buffy or Angel doesn't exactly fill me with glee. The dogfight near the endwas excellent..
I didn't know Arnie's "I'll be back" niece was in it. That came as a pleasant surprise, for most of the film she plays a similar role "clueless psycho".
Is there any plans for a sequel/prequel? I guess not. One showing the war would be cool.

and hey they have recently talked a lot about a sequel, it may go ahead as they made tonnes of cash on DVD (and HD DVD), it may have just made its cash back in cinemas, but the dvd alone sold massive amounts. It passed the magic figure they said it needed to, to get a new film/tv/dvd film made so in a way it is still on the cards.
A new version is out on Blu Ray soon hopefully, so they are still making plenty of cash out of the film thats for sure.
Get Firefly the show, as frankly the film works ten times better if you have seen the show. Many think the show beats the film as well taht also will be coming to Blu Ray with lots of new stuff, if the pictures a bobby dazzler I am getting it!

That's a shame. Thanks.EvaUnit02 wrote:No sequel to Serenity, at least on screen, it bombed hard.
Firefly is set before Serenity right? I presume that didn't show the war either?EvaUnit02 wrote:The Firefly universe does live on in graphic novel form though. *Yawn*
Universal have told us what's coming this year and it's not listed. I'm sure it's coming but it won't be soon. I'd only upgrade if it has Lossless Audio. I hear the UK HD-DVD already looks excellent.romerojpg wrote:A new version is out on Blu Ray soon hopefully, so they are still making plenty of cash out of the film thats for sure.
I didn't like it "that" much:romerojpg wrote:Get Firefly the show, as frankly the film works ten times better if you have seen the show.

I'm going to presume you didn't watch The Sarah Connor Chronicles.romerojpg wrote:Niece?
I thought the "Arnie "I'll be back" niece" bit would've given it away, to someone so intelligent .
Summer Glau plays the female terminator in "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and by some unconnected route is Arnie's niece seeing as he is also the Terminator too. Summer Glau's part in Serenity is very similar in places to her portrayal in The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Not that I mind she plays the type of role very well.

Mmmm Niece, I wondered what link you were on about, but no I knew you were on about something like that, Niece does not exactly work though. Sister would be more apt, younger sister.
and as for Serenity as I said if you had seen the show, you would get the film a lot more. Many of your points would not be valid as you would get them more (Like the strange language and the Male Lead). You grow to love them things for reasons, jumping into the film kind of misses out a massive backstory and history of everyone and everything.
Its like seing the end 10 minutes of a long film really, you missed the 10 hours that came before it.

It doesn't really matter. It was only a remote link at bestromerojpg wrote:Niece does not exactly work though. Sister would be more apt, younger sister.
No not really.romerojpg wrote:Its like seing the end 10 minutes of a long film really, you missed the 10 hours that came before it.
Would you expect people to read a book before seeing a film? Many books fill in the blanks from a film but many people don't read a book first. They're two different mediums and should work separately.
