I hope the remaster of CTHD uses the theatrical subtitles (that the R3 uses).

Garish cover art aside... this release has potential.
Cantonese 2.0 should be mono, but will it be the uncut track (currently only available on the FR. DVD)? Call me cynical but I have doubts.
Also, the Sony (from whom this will have be licenced) DVDs contained dubtitles. Past experience leads me to expect same.
I would imagine Umbrella's print will be indentical to whatever Twilight Time have (and at a much lower cost).

The German BD of Chang Cheh's The Shaolin Avengers is a decent release.

nothing wrong with someone treating themselves they are great releases. weren't they suppose to reissue cheaper versions or didn't that ever happen?Markgway wrote:saltysam wrote:Shaolin Avengers is a great release,i've got all 7 of those mediabooks.

I never heard anything about those reissues... knowing German distributors they'd probably still be overpriced.
I was lucky enough to pick up two of the Mediabooks off eBay for less than half the Amazon DE price (and got a third in a trade).

Amazon.de have the cheaper versions, except for Savage 5 - assuming there ever was one.
If anyone has the German BD of New One-Armed Swordsman, how is the inserted death scene? Is it film sourced, and it is Mandarin (ie no German groaning!)

The BFI are releasing Farewell, My Concubine. It's not quite Fantasy Mission Force, but still...

Good film, but not one I feel the need to see again.
I feel that way about most dramas.

Sounds like the Criterion Lady Snowblood set is a significant upgrade on the Arrow release http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Compl ... 89/#Review

I watched the first half hour of LS1 abut three weeks ago... and just can't be bothered going back to it.
I think maybe most Japanese cinema isn't for me.

i've got the Arrow LS set,i need to watch it before deciding if i want to upgrade. Japanese cinema is hit and miss for me, i like the LW & C series, The Streetfighter movies but couldn't take to Hanzo The Razor. Not seen any of the more recent efforts.

Not seen this one yet, doesn't look like it's any sort of back to form effort from Jackie Chan but interesting that it's been shorn of over 20 minutes for it's usa home video release while,if Amazon specs are right we'll be getting it complete http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dragon-Blu-ray- ... 3&sr=1-159

As for Lady Snowblood, I'll refrain from further comments until I get back to Japan to my own (laptop) screen, and until I've seen more caps from other sources, but those caps don't look entirely right to me...
