Now that's what I'm talking about, the UE looks much better. Photo 3 is lovely 8)

MLAM: Any of adding a "The World is Not Enough" DVD Comparison please? I can add the UK R2 SE if you like.

I never bought the R1 as it's the same version as the R2.

The captions/subs are missing from the UE though, right? I can't remember if they were on the SE as generated text.

Cap 1 - UE is better. The image has been reformatted to 2.35 which has resulted in very slight cropping.

Cap 2 - UE looks a bit duller, the sky is no longer blue.

Cap 3 - Blue has been changed to aqua, but the result is pleasing enough.

Cap 4 - Not much difference here.

Cap 5 - Again blue has been toned down - they really don't like the blues do they?

Cap 6 - Fair bit sharper upon close inspection.

Worth upgrading to the UE? Not sure to be honest. Maybe when it's half-price?

When I have time I shall make that my next DVD, no need for providing as I do also have the R2 SE :)

It's no real trouble, I'll only compare ones that get requested though for now I think, I may do a few more down the line.

2 more pictures to compare added :)

Though the pictures may not show it, the old SE DVD is a very poor DVD encoding wise, its consistantly blocky and not a joy to watch at all, by far the worst picture in the SE DVD range I think.

You can see some mild blocking on the Kristina Wayborn capture.

Huh? It looks loads better. The original is so dark, it's much clearer now.

Definitely.

I hope I'm making sense my glasses are upstairs :D

The Kristina cap is much better on the UE, but I'm not keen on the way they've dulled down some of the images. Look at the lights and the pool on the second last cap.

Yep afraid that is true, the location captions and translations for some indian dialogue were Player Generated on the old R2 SE but they are not on the UE DVD UNLESS YOU TURN ON one of the subtitle streams but that is very annoying.

On some caps (like Cap 1) the UE looks much better and sharper but the blue filters on some shots have been removed. Like Mark said, on Cao 2 the sky is less blue.

Thanks MLAM. Oh dear.

At least it looks like a pool now. I've never seen a pool that blue (i.e - SE).

The still photographs in "James Bond - The Legacy" would seem to indicate that the pool was as blue as it seemed in the SE...
