Beware: The Thing is the Canadian edition with shitty French plastered all over the sleeve. Also it seems to be missing all the DVD extras except the great com track. Unless they're part of that PIP nonsense?

They're now part of the PIP track. Universal have annoyingly done this a few times for the BD re-release.
I watched this the other day, decent but not a keeper. If I was going to keep it I'd keep my HD-DVD though. I prefer the extras in non-PIP form. The PIP tracks you have to scan through the film to watch, it completely fragments them. They should be as well as, not instead of regular extras.
Personally I don't mind Canadian covers. I already own discs with non-English on them anyway, my Leon German BD for instance is on order.

The UK release of THE THING comes out on Monday (Dec 1st).
According to the DVD TIMES link:
http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=68986 looks like we get the feature length doc as a seperate feature.

Awesome price but given our iffy BD technology can be I'd really stay clear of shite makes like Bush.
Number of Stereo channels = 2
WOW! Really?

It's a solid upgrade. It's not HD WOW but definitely better than the SD DVD.

Interesting. How good will Bush be with releasing firmware upgrades though.

If it's definitely confirmed as a samsung then £97.50 for a first go into blu-ray if someone is on a tight budget is worth a go imo. alternatively the Sony 350 is £171 in Asda however you get Hancock,Wall-E & Mamma Mia in the box and a redemption code for Casino Royale & Batman Begins.even if you didn't want those 5 films there must be £60-£65 worth of ebay cash waiting for those discs making the player only around £110.plus the sony can be made MR for DVD 8)

Hardware prices are now getting to a great price, pity software still costs way too much.

Me too, definitely. I've not upgraded my BD and I doubt I will, unless it can be bought sub £10.
The concept of extras has almost entirely worn off me.
