Fallen Angels BD: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDCompar ... angels.htm

Looks sweet, I'll have to purchase that, never seen the film before.

The Fallen Angels Remastered DVD (technically their third release of Fallen Angels and second Remaster) looks pretty similar to how the Korean Remastered DVD looks. It's a pretty good film but I much prefer Chungking Express/ITMFL/2046.

Fallen Angels and Happy Together came close to working but something didn't quite work for me. Isn't there a Happy Together BD too?

Fallen Angels is like a less good continuation of the already flawed Chung King Express. But if you like Wong Kar-Wai's naval gazing (here at it's most banal) then you're in for a treat. Happy Together is worse still. Ever wanted to see two gays bitch and whine for two hours? Now's yer chance. The only reason the plotless and boring HT avoids the brunt of deserved criticism is because critics are afraid of being accused of homophobia. But frankly the movie would be just as bad if Leslie Cheung's part was played by Brigitte Lin.

It is also pretty experimental and played a large part to the look of ITMFL. I do largely agree on Happy Together though. Chungking Express is very good and ITMFL + 2046 are excellent.

I'm split down the middle on WKW films. Some of his work is excellent, some not.

ChungKing Express is excellent IMO and Fallen Angels is patchy, but good. An acquired taste. ITMFL, like CKE, is superb.

Fallen Angels looks pretty nice on Blu Ray from those caps.

Funny it says the movie finally looks like film stock and not video, my first full viewing of FA was on UK VHS - an absolutely destroyed, typical HK burnt-in-subbed print...and it was lovely :)
2010 - The return of the HK movie industry :)

What about Happy Together?

I can remember bits of that but struggle to remember Fallen Angels at all. Which must say something. I sold Happy Together but have Fallen Angels still, only because it's in a double pack with the Korean Chungking Express. I'm in no rush to upgrade too. Both look excellent.

The BD of Fallen Angels looks fantastic. Can't wait to get it. One of my favorites.

In the Mood for Love was a massive improvement on Happy Together and restored my faith in Wong's ability.

Chung King Express isn't a bad film at all, in fact I liked parts of it. But it's a short's worth of material drawn out to 90+ mins. The second episode especially drags on with nowhere to go. It's all very well for directors to experiment as long as they remember who they're making the films for - a paying audience.

The second episode is fantastic. The first one suffers from some dumb crime movie stuff.

Fallen Angels is OK-ish. I never really loved it like I love most of WKW's other movies. The characters just aren't very appealing.

I wrote a review for it a long long time ago: http://www.cityonfire.com/hkfilms/ef/fallenangels.html

I thought Happy Together was excellent. It isn't even about gay-love or anything, but just about 2 people who love eachother, yet are completely incompatible, character-wise. Kinda like 'can't live with, can't live without', and it's about realizing that, dealing with it, and moving on.

The movie looks and sounds fantastic, and the acting is brilliant. I do realize it absolutely isn't for everybody. Personally, I think it's a good movie. Not 'entertaining', and not a movie you will watch when you just want to be entertained for 2 hours orso, but it's good, deep, gorgeous, and fantastically acted.

If they're reissuing it so quickly perhaps it's a possibility.

Nothing that the Cine Asia doesn't have.

Don't see the need for two versions.

Anyone find out if this was corrected?
I'd like to see Come Drink With Me on Blu (either from DD, Cine-Asia or some HK company), if DD fix the bad subtitles.

Thanks. I missed that. No doubt Tai Chi Master will be similar/the same to the UK release. I'll keep an eye on FSY though.
