UE is too bright.
HKL looks like sepia
BD has too much green.

None is perfect but overall I'd be happy ENOUGH with the BD image.

My thoughts exactly and particularly when it comes to WOTD. Both HKLs and the Fortune Star all look pretty rubbish. It's easily the worst looking of the Bruce Lee films.

Agreed - not sure if thats to do with film stock or how it was shot but on all formats - even the old HKL DVDs - Big Boss and FOF were both better transfers than WOTD.

It could be the prints were duplicated by the studio in the 80's and we're seeing transfers from a later generation (poorer) source?

Should, but many Asian companies love to treat prints like pure shit and even just destroy them to make space. Nice. Many films will never look good in HD, as frankly no good source will ever be found.

it's piss poor when a small french company like wild side can release it in 1080p. Doesn't augur well for The Killer does it?even though it's one cap,it's clear the french release pisses it

sadly,no.

From their facebook page : "Dragon Dynasty Which version of THE KILLER is @Dragon Dynasty using? It's the John Woo-approved cut, but it runs slightly shorter than the Criterion version due to PAL/NTSC master conversion and slight changes to the credits. All the same content is in there, but this will be by far the best looking, best sounding version of THE KILLER ever seen."

Not only that but the Dragon Dynasty DVD looks better than their BD. The same fucking company. When recruiting for their company do DD advertise: "incompetant morons wanted".

Maybe DD slapped their title card on The Killer. Could an HK company release a BD?

The original title card has "The Killer" in English already. I've really no clue what they could be referring to.

Kam & Ronson, presumably. But given their other releases are mostly upconverted monoless dogshit. I wouldn't hold your breath. Hold onto your HKL or Joy Sales.

I still have the HKL of The Killer so I'll keep that. Its a pity about 36th Chamber though - The Big Boss BD looked good and then things got steadily worse.

Meh. It's a DD2.0 mix. That doesn't count in my book. It will still basically be the same.

Maybe they're using the English export print?

If they are using the English export print, then I'm willing to bet its the same one found on the German DVD, which looks excellent.

Would be good if the could use this quality export print but replace the English credits with the Chinese originals.

It's the purist in me...
