Time signatures (NTSC) for first 4 caps (no point posting the last 2 cuz they're from the 2nd disc):-
0:09:22
0:48:23
1:15:33
1:22:33

Surprisingly both releases have the exact same chapter stops.

There's very little in it. I'd say the R1 has the nod. I'll add my French caps, they're very different.

French caps up. Not as different as I was expecting but clearly the French disc is less sharp.

In the real world it looks much more different, the R1 SE easily wins. For £25 which is what Amazon.fr charged me Studio Canal/Pathe should've done better.

It's the same for the French R2 too.

All of them have been cropped from the original 2.35:1 to something around 2.00:1, supposedly to make the film more home video friendly.

I personally loathe this approach since it was originally seen in 2.35:1.
Mace Windu got thrown out the windu!

Since the reason for the cropping was apparently some BS about lack of resolution (even though no one else seems to have any problem with it), hopefully they'll be able to do it right for the HD formats. If they decide to pull the same thing again then they really deserve to be punched in the face.

Well exactly, well said. I do bet the HD release will still be cropped though.
