yeah, watching old non-anamorpic HK dvds for the sake of mono is one thing but that Columbia disc isn't exactly an option. If DD and JS also screw this up I will get one of the downmixed dvds. Although I was thinking which would be more distracting, watching the film with a FS remix or a french dub with original sound effects. As far as I remember there's a nice french remaster out there (didn't someone already post a comparison... or am I mixing films?)

EDIT: yup, here: https://www.bulletsnbabesdvd.com/forums/ ... wooden+men

Its one reason I am gonna start selling of my crap non anamporphic dvds, as putting it mildly most are unwatchable on a big screen :(

HKL all the way. Sony's looks worse than a pirated VHS.

I say the Columbia has far better contrast levels, more accurate colour (especially with regards to skin tones), less banding, less combing & also less cropping, making it the all-out winner.

Obviously the HKL version sucks in comparison. I mean, where did they get that print from? Its got way too much picture on the sides...

That R1 is disgraceful; how dare they release that and charge money for it?

What makes it worse is the fact it's a columbia release, not exactly a smalltime company.it does have mandarin though as opposed to hkl cantonese.

Good luck getting them to sync, being at different speeds and all.

Hey saltysam, Do you fancy adding caps to this older comparison so there's more DVDs included?
