Highlighted in Tom's "DVD Comparisons database / DVD Comparisons requests" thread with the rest?

I'm planning on adding a collection of screen caps for Casino Royale once it's released so if any of you get the R2 we could do a comparison.

Shouldn't Casino Royale pretty much look the same all around?

Not necessarily. I've seen releases that look different from region to region.

I'm getting the uncut R3 very soon so I can add those. In fact I'll get it a couple of weeks before the R1 or R2 is released so I'll start a new thread as soon as I can.

Doesn't the R3 have an audio dropout?

I read about that a week ago. Maybe you could confirm that, mark? I think it's around the 90 minute mark or something.

From what I hear, the picture on the R3 isn't all that great and the DTS track is faulty. Methinks the R1 is going to be the winner with this film.

I'll check for a dropout on the 5.1 track if I know where I'm looking. Can you be more specific than @ 90 mins? I don't have DTS so if it's that track, sorry. I'm hoping to get the DVD tomorrow. :)

Grim: yeah, the R3 has been confirmed as uncut. The R2 is still a '12' and so is presumably still cut. The R1 was cut for theatrical release, but I've no idea if the PG-13 DVD will be exactly the same. Since there's been no new MPAA submission to date, I would assume so. That's why I've ordered the R3.

As far as I know, the film was not cut for theatrical release in the US. The R1 DVD should be the same version.

I haven't bought any version yet though - R3 = uncut but maybe faulty, R2 = cut but not faulty, what to do?

Can the R1 and R3 be compared :)

Apparently the torture scene was uncut in the R1, but others violent bits were censored. I seem to recall someone mentioning a strangling being shortened.

Sounds good. I got a sneak peek at the movie on a friend's iPod. I don't like bootlegs myself but I thought what the hell, I'll watch it.

I'm re-organizing the comparisons with new reviews on each title, ratings for SE and UE and even re-doing some of the caps that don't match well. I've finished TND, TWINE and DAD. I'll finish Goldeneye today and maybe some others. Cheers.

I read about defects with some of the UE discs over at HTF. I've watched all 20 films since buying the UE's and haven't noticed a single glitch or defect at all. Perhaps it was just a bad batch somewhere.

Same here. I assume there was a manufacturer who screwed up or something.
