Seems pretty simular.
Personally, when differences are this small, I dont really give a fuck about the 1-2% difference either way, and just go for the one that's cheapest.

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

Me too.

If I had to pick I'd give it to the UK it's a touch brighter but really both are identical.

Cheers Mark.

Hmm I'd be inclined to say that the R2 is too bright (compared to the R1) but of course it's barely worth bothering about. I'd go for the R1 because I like to watch things in NTSC.

One minute difference I noticed is in the colour of varnish on Talisa Soto's toes (cap 4). On the R2 it's black, but the R1 has colour corrected it to red. Barely noticeable, really, yet it caught my eye.

You were looking at her toes? :D

What a pointless change, still I guess red is "technically better.

What colour were her toes on the special edition - not that I care, there's a lot more to Talisa Soto than her toes!

Lol, I was looking at the whole cap, and that's where I noticed the difference. I didn't search the entire movie for "a toe shot". :D

R1 looks a little sharper/brighter (could be slight edge enhancement).

And you two, keep the fetishes for the general discussion section  !

Look at the guy on the left's face (1st comparison), you can see more detail where as on the R2, it's slightly blurred in an overall look.

I was talking about the brightness which to me the R2 is brighter than sharpness but as for sharpness both look about the same.

The skin tones in the first capture are completely different though.

Sorry if this has been covered already, but how does the UK and US UEs handle the Isthmus City caption. Player generated or burnt into the actual film correctly?

Pretty sure all R1 UE's have burnt in subs. I don't know about R2

I can confirm that the "Isthmus City" Caption is properly imprinted on the film and not a crappy player generated subtitle.

Found this, which should answer Brad's query in more depth - http://www.zetaminor.com/dvd/james_bond ... dalton.htm

Thanks Ivan. I'll check it out.

That's a good point actually. "BRATISLAVIA, CZECHOSLOVAKIA" doesn't appear and only later I worked out that's where they were, thinking at first it was Russia :(
