hey,

and when watching the flick, it's quite evident the print has taken a beating for the worse compared to the original release (that had its ups and downs but was very watchable) ?

Here's some caps from the UK DVD, sourced from the old Atlas VHS. It's cropped to buggery but the colour comparison is interesting. I wonder if the print still exists.

I couldn't find cap 2 so I used a similar shot

Not sure how you get the cap to full size though

The old Pathfinder release looks really horrible in those caps.

On the 2nd cap, if you see the face, it looks like the rerelease pathfinder is a bit better, bit more sharper

the first pathfinder release is actually the most stable version.

I guess caps are deceptive then because the remaster looks better from what's been posted here.

The first one looks horrible. It's only merits are the lack of any grain/noise reduction.

The Aussie one seems to be VERY slightly superior (bit more clearer detail by a smudgen). If it's progressive, then it's a winner automatically.

I have the R3 Winson release which I'll add captures for soon.

ok i've added a couple of caps from the international version also on the madman disc. it's 8 minutes shorter also has mandarin mono plus an english dub option and to my eyes looks in much better shape. i haven't included the 2nd cap from the international version because it's not present in this cut. :( pity madman couldn't have kept this print as the main source and inserted the missing scenes from the full length version.

Do it yourself, then. :)
Take the international version, insert the scenes from the full length version, burn the DVD.

And voilà: great-looking full length Guillotine created in less than 20 minutes. :D

The English print does look the best.

On the intl print on the R4 DVd, the Neu music has been replaced - still present on the HK version.

They all look a mess, including the R4. It's virtually the same.

I presume the R4 wins as it's Anamorphic and has 30 minutes of interviews right? If so I'll add it to the Madman thread.

the rereleased pathfinder is anamorphic and has a 2nd disc of extras.

And that makes it better or worse than the R4? I'm guessing better so why are people wanting the R4?

Actually I feel the old Pathfinder is best. There's a lot of frames missing from the last reel on the anamorphic versions and slow motion is put in to try and compensate. It's very distracting. I also found the colour more pleasing and the definition better on the older one.

The R4 has the best print for the Int'l version but the music has been changed so not very good at all
