Dude, aren't you asleep yet ? :D

OK, I'll provide some french caps.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Note:
You made it too difficult. I couldn't find the exact frames. :?

Wow, I guess it's not the same print afterall.

Overall, the German DVD looks a bit too saturated (skin tones are off) but it's still very good.
Extremely sharp too, sharper than the HK Vidéo disc in some shots.

I wish I knew why the german picture is yellow and why the HK Vidéo picture is blue. :lol:

The cap where Philip Kwok drops his mag is completely oversaturated.

LD, edit Tom's French caps in and tomorrow I'll add Tartan ones. If no one gets there before me, because it'll be PM.

What the hell? I thought Tartan was all blue, and HK Video less blue. I couldn't believe my eyes. I even checked my tartan dvd and Eva's caps are definitely correct.

Tom, are those dvdbeaver HK Video caps accurate?

Close call, IMO.

-German DVD is too grainy and too saturated.
-HK Vidéo DVD might be too blueish.
-Tartan DVD's too soft.

@Hungfist:
Since when are DVDBeaver accurate ? :lol:
I think their Tartan caps are screwed-up.

@LD:
Don't forget to add "vs R2FR" in the title.

Beaver's Tartan caps seem accurate, I checked myself. I think it's their HKV caps that are not correct. None of them show the blue tint

Why my cap looks 10 times better than the DVD-Beaver cap I don't know. :lol:

Apparently they can't be trusted.

In our comparison HKV looks blue, Tartan doesn't
In Beavers's comparison Tartan looks blue, HKV doesn't

Yet all caps seem more or less accurate. Go figure...

Look at what such a mess the MeiAh remaster is. Brad, you have no excuse not to upgrade now to the Tartan CE.

I think anyone owning the Tartan or HKV (if French) should be happy.

I do. I upgraded about 6 months ago and traded my Mei Ah.

Why DVD Beaver used such small captures is beyond me.

Amazon.fr I'd imagine for the French release, dunno about the German disc though since it's probably FSK-18 and thus not sold at mainstream shops.

Personally I think the Tartan CE looks excellent, I might double-dip depending how the Dragon Dynasty release turns out.

It does. You're looking at screen captures, which only tell part of the story.

They should be used as a indicator NOT the 100% reason to decide which to get. (Well written) Reviews tell you much more.

I took comparison shots from the new Nordic Scanbox John Woo collection box sets; It's a bit soft, but there's no digital enhancing nor any restoration for that matter.

Here ya go... (I only bothered with the 5 first...)
