Heart of Dragon R2UK vs R1 vs R0 vs R2FR

Note: both the HKL and the FOX discs feature dubtitles.

HKL:

R2FR:

On the top-right part of the picture, the ceiling is completely blurry on the FOX = Low bitrate.
The Seven Sept transfer doesn't have the FOX's green/yellow tint and isn't as grainy as the HKL.

HKL picture looks less yellowish.

This is the Heart of The Problem:
Jackie comes up to Dick Wei and yells "Don't try to stop me !".
Dick Wei answers:
HKL: "I'll kill you !"
FOX: "I'm going to rip out your heart !"

According to Bey Logan, this is what Dick Wei actually says:
Bey: "I'm sorry but this is my job !"

YAY! The french subtitles are accurate.
"Je fais mon boulot" -> "It's my job." :D

I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

I'd say the HKL wins on quality, but suffers slightly from pinkification. I never realised this had gone on so long. You only really notice in during comparisons.

I like (not) how they manage to turn Dick Wei from a professional to a mindless thug in one dubtitle. Brilliant!

Yeah, "Heart of Dragon" has always been suffering from a dilemma of mis-translations in the West.

"Heart of Dragon" is not Engrish as far as I know. Dragon does not refer to the mythical creature, but to the name of Jackie's character. Like in "Heart of LD".

I think it's exactly the opposite.

Heart of the Dragon: The dragon = Jackie Chan. -> Heart of Jackie's character.

Heart of Dragon: Dragon = Strong mythical creature. -> Someone in this movie has the heart of a dragon.

The use of "the" completely changes the meaning of the film IMO.
"The Dragon" refers to a character.
"Heart of Dragon" defines a character.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Can I just point out that, even though you say the HKL has dubtitles, at least they don't subtitle when no one is even saying anything, unlike various Fox releases (like My Lucky Stars).

According to Mark, the HKL "Heart of Dragon" is not word-for-word dubtitles, but based on dubtitles :) Eg in the subtitles one of the kids says "shit", in the dub he says "damn".
However Sammo is still referred to sometimes as "Danny" in the subs and not "Do-do".
At least Jackie isnt called TED.

HKL's soundtrack is really flat. Fox uses FS's 5.1 remix. How about Universe?

The most apt title would be HEART OF A DRAGON.

But now we're getting bogged down in semantics... 8)

FOX dubtitles are bloody awful.
HKL dubtitles are almost acceptable.

Universe = Great remix and mostly accurate subtitles!

Couldn't help but notice the 'Redonetitlecardoverthecurrentone Syndrome' yet again on the Fox DVD.

Yeah, that reminds me. The text on the title card of the Fox Magnificent Butcher is now white. Does anyone have the FS IVL and can tell me if that disc has the same problem?

Captures! Glorious Captures!

Hi Tom

Here are Universe (R0 Hong Kong) captures:

https://www.bulletsnbabesdvd.com/forums/ ... 0-%201.jpg
https://www.bulletsnbabesdvd.com/forums/ ... 0-%202.jpg
https://www.bulletsnbabesdvd.com/forums/ ... 0-%203.jpg
https://www.bulletsnbabesdvd.com/forums/ ... 0-%204.jpg

Here are the HKL ones that didn't match your Fox ones:

https://www.bulletsnbabesdvd.com/forums/ ... 0-%202.jpg
https://www.bulletsnbabesdvd.com/forums/ ... 0-%203.jpg
https://www.bulletsnbabesdvd.com/forums/ ... 0-%204.jpg

It would seem Universe is more accurate than Bey as I can't hear an 'apology' in what Dick says (although I can't confirm) . The remix is more vibrant and other than that, it fails in other departments.

I think the upload feature is great! I can at least delete images that are obselete (to save space and bandwidth).
