Sad. I gotta say I stopped using blockbuster when they went from 4 blu ray rentals for £10 to 3 for £12 (or something) overnight

Shame I used to use BB quite a lot in the VHS days when I first discovered HK movies

Plenty left in Japan. Many are open 24/7. People pick up dvds like groceries... they even have shopping baskets. Many stores also have music, games and comics. Web rental (home delivery) also works really well.

All the ones I frequented have closed over the last 10-15 years.
Blockbuster (formerly Ritz) was the last.

This thread got me thinking about if there is any left in my area-this one's over the water on the Wirral but it sounds like my kind of store http://www.rewindthismovie.com/?p=968#.VeXzPfRPKsY

Re: Blockbuster goes into administration
Netflix just launched in Japan today. I took the free trial but I have a problem... they don't have a single movie I'd care to watch
As for Japanese movie selection they've got a few hundred titles, 95% of them made in the 2000's, every single one available from rental stores and other sources, and every interesting title I've already seen. Western movies selection isn't any better. Useless.
I tried Hulu a few years ago and had the same problem. I heard the US Hulu has some interesting Japanese titles but no such luck with the Japanese version.

i've heard that to get the best out of Netflix you need a vpn which lets you access the different regions round the world.apparently content varies enormously.
