Medium Rare are
Medium Rare are as you say a smallish company but should they be expected to remaster these titles at their own cost when much bigger companies like Shout! over in the usa (a much bigger market) cannot be arsed.that should be down to the rights owners FS.I'm happy to see these films released knowing 99% of the people who buy them will enjoy what's in front of them.sometimes ignorance is bliss.

I guess I've never been an ignorance is bliss type of guy...saltysam wrote:Medium Rare are as you say a smallish company but should they be expected to remaster these titles at their own cost when much bigger companies like Shout! over in the usa (a much bigger market) cannot be arsed.that should be down to the rights owners FS.[/quote
Oh, I agree. Medium Rare (and Shout for that matter) should insist upon genuine HD masters as part of their contract. Thus if Fortune Star supply upscales they'll be in breach of contract. Too many companies aren't savvy enough to think ahead. When dealing with HK companies you basically have to expect them to screw you and protect yourself accordingly.

Theres a rumour over at Blu Ray.com that a Korean release of A Better Tomorrow trilogy is coming:

Whether it'll be like the Fortune Star release (ie upscaled) I dont know. Is the Japanese release true HD?

Interesting... who owns Cine Asia now? I can like their FB page.
I presume by "new titles" that means new films and not older ones that havent necessarily been on BD before? Good news either way.

We saw that link back in December. Re-releases of selected titles only. No new news.

It would've helped if you'd posted that link in the first place... donut.luckystars wrote: Re read my posts

Eureka have hinted at A Touch of Zen coming to BD (possibly their Masters of Cinema line)
https://www.facebook.com/EurekaEntertai ... =1&fref=nf A restored version of this would be interesting.

Awesome news. Unlike most companies I have a good feeling that Eureka will get this right.

Good to know. This was originally shown in Hong Kong in two parts. When the BBC screened it back in the late 90s they edited it together (as the director intended) but accidentally included the last five minutes of Part One twice. D'oh!

Re: Asian Movies in HD!
Touch of Zen is screening in Helsinki on 35mm quite often... every few years. But since I'm on the wrong side of the planet, I'd be happy with a solid BD. I saw the film on TV about 6-8 years ago and loved it.

I didn't think there was enough material for 170m.

Re: Asian Movies in HD!
Lee Khan is a better film IMO. Zen is in a similar style, but a lot slower. Have you seen Raining in the Mountain? That's arguably Hu's best.saltysam wrote:i confess to having never seen Touch Of Zen....but would pick it up. i really like Fate Of Lee Khan...
