Looks really great!

Want to see this vs the old THX transfer, just to compare.

Just checked Rewind and the Blu ray doesn't contain the original mono soundtrack.

According to Blu Ray.com, the old commentary from previous releases has been included - I thought a new one has been recorded?

Audio Commentary with Writer/Director Sam Raimi, Actor Bruce Campbell, Co-Writer Scott Spiegel and Special Make-Up Effects Artist Greg Nicotero. This previously released commentary track is a fairly raucous affair, as might be expected, though Nicotero's contributions are quite interesting, and all of the commentators manage to provide a wealth of technical detail about how the film was made.
Swallowed Souls: The Making of Evil Dead 2 (HD; 1:38:00). This is a great assemblage of featurettes which includes the requisite interviews with cast and crew, but which manages to dig a little beneath the surface to explicate the insane ambience of the film and its unexpected cultural impact.
Cabin Fever A "Fly on the Wall" Look Behind the Scenes of Evil Dead II (HD; 30:22) features some video segments from Special Make-Up Effects Creator Greg Nicotero's own "home movies," which show several effects and make-ups being created, as well as some deleted scenes that didn't make into theahemfinal cut.
Road to Wadesboro: Revisiting the Shooting Location with Filmmaker Tony Elwood (HD; 8:00) features the film's special effects props master.
Evil Dead II: Behind-the-Screams (SD; 17:07) is an Anchor Bay archival featurette with Tom Sullivan hosting and narrating a slideshow of various stills showing effects and creatures being fabricated, as well as on the set shots of the actors.
The Gore the Merrier (SD; 31:51) is another archival making of featurette which concentrates on the blood and guts aspect of the film.
theatrical Trailer (HD; 1:29)
Still Galleries are split into Advertising & Memorabilia, Behind-the-Scenes, Special Make-up Effects and Stop Motion Animation.

I'm seriously thinking about upgrading though.

Just had a rummage online and it seems Studio Canal are the owners of the film and the 2011 Lionsgate transfer apparently came from them.

Really tempted to pre order. Could they really fuck this one up?!

That review says it's exactly the same (apart from the extra audio track).

So, doesn't look like they fucked-up. ;)

Forget it.

"Studio Canal also offers up a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 (48kHz/16-bit) stereo mix, although the disc menu incorrectly lists it as LPCM. While it is not the original mono, it does sound a little more balanced than the 5.1, offering a rather widely panned stereo soundfield. It still sounds a little shrill and suffers from some crackle in the sound effects and dialogue, however."

Did any DVD ever have the original Mono?
I used to have the old Momentum disc that had 5.1 and I was happy with it (I'd never seen the film then mind). I'll probably be fine with my USA disc.

The original Anchor Bay R1 DVD and BMG R2 DVD had mono (the latter was BBFC snipped so only the former counts).

This is getting an uncut release in Germany and it claims to feature a version running 2.5 minutes longer than the theatrical cut...never heard of an extended version of this one before :icon_suspect: http://www.schnittberichte.com/news.php?ID=5583

Neither did the first film. I don't get why the hell including the damn mono tracks is hard for these companies. It fucking mystifies me.

Anchor Bay are putting out a Steelbook of the original, but I'd assume that to be remixed only. I find it best to just assume the worst.
