Which is? I'm guessing OUATIC or PS.

I've not seen that link before, thanks Hung. That does look piss poor and I bet it's expensive too. Unless they're done properly, I'm happy with my DVDs (the HKLs for me, are already perfectly find/good) and even then, I'd only upgrade a few.
gasteropod wrote:I wouldn't be so sure, Brad's the one that insisted on purchasing the original Gladiator BD even when he knew about the PQ problems
Of course. There was nothing to say a better BD was coming, insisted is a overly strong and it easily beats the DVDs. Salty bought it too btw.

If those screencaps are from the BD, then it's rubbish!

maybe you should apply for a reviewer's job over there then, that reviewer gives it a positive rating despite having the disc to hand and you can tell it's shite from screencaps alone

Well that BD distributor is known for doing upscales, and those screencaps (if accurate) look like upscales, so there you go.

Click on a screencap and move your face up to your screen, can you see any fine detail? Look at the edges, they're all blurred, an HD master would have sharp edges, fine detail, and grain. It's not rocket science, this is the whole point of Blu-ray, and it's obvious when a DVD master has simply been upscaled to 1080p.

And let's say it's not an upscale, my original comment was simply 'it's rubbish', and yep that still stands whether it's an upscale or not.

so you are saying it's definitely an upscale and the reviewer is wrong? i didn't know you could tell an upscale from a cap but i guess you learn something every day.

Now you're arguing about terms. Upscale, downscale, whatever scale. What does that matter what it's called? Those are just words. Either the transfer looks good, or it doesn't. If it looks crap, then it's not much of a consolation to know it's HD crap.

like Brad, who decided i was going to see Unknown because i mentioned it was no 1 at the usa cinemas, you make assumptions that are incorrect.i have no intention of buying it,i'll keep the hkl disc.just think some people are incredibly anal and life is far too short to get uptight about a fucking transfer  i mean you were suicidal over Suspiria wtf :notworthy:

That is all I said, what the hell's wrong there? Why post that review if you didn't want anyone to respond? :? Anything after that is because you started arguing with me.

screencaps really do no justice. when you actually watch it you can tell its clearly not "upscaled". I actually have this and a few other K&R blus and sure they're inconsistent but theyre definitely HD. Even the Wong Fei Hung Trilogy is clearly HD. I have it so I know.;)

Not confirmed, but you can tell by looking at it. Where's the forking detail?
this poster isn't referring to you is he ;)
Yes, but who cares what that ignorant cunt thinks?

That's not what Spannick (on the ADVDG) says and he works in the industry and knows their practices. I believe him (and my own eyes).

Without getting into another debate dangerouslleehandsome in the post above actually has the disc and says it's HD??so the only people with the disc that we know of (dangerous/skycaptain/the blu-ray reviewer) say it's HD though of inconsistent quality and the people without the disc claim upscale ;) it's all very confusing

I agree with Mark it is not very detailed, even if its not an upscale its a very soft picture. Look at the picture of Jean Wang with the young girl playing WFH, round their hand it looks a bit fuzzy. No detail in their clothing or the brickwork.

Dude, I used to visit ADG all the time (you know that). The majority of ppl on there are full of shit! Somebody says something and all the sheep just follow. Remember ur friend Gil aka Running Man? That guy was/is full of shit yet you guys took his bullshit as gospel! Remember his rant filled Hard-Boiled dvd review? It was hilarious! Where is that guy?
