@ Salty: I assumed it got a DVD and BD release. I guess not. Thanks for the caps of the USA BD.
@ Ricky: Which country/release is that? I didn't know it was out on BD. I used to own the Aussie Eastern Eye DVD, with a reasonable/good anamorphic, uncut, DD5.1 disc.

This is the region free Taiwanese release by BitWel/Shengchi. Quality is not all that great but I live in the US and the dvd released here was complete crap so this is an easy upgrade. UK dvd ratio is 1.85 while this BD is 2.13. Based on reviews the top & bottom are cropped off with the sides opened up. Audio is PCM and dolby 5.1. English subs are pretty good too.
The USA DVD looks to be 4:3. The UK one is anamorphic 1.85:1 DD2.0 (but it's a ropey early Tartan release) but the Eastern Eye (Madman) R4 is anamorphic 1.85:1 DD5.1 and Full-Rate 1.5MB DTS. Making it the best release. 1.85:1 is the correct ratio. If you can play PAL (it's not NTSC to PAL, like some of their early releases) the Eastern Eye R4 is rather good.
Somebody at the blu-ray.com asian sub-forum stated that when compared to their dvd, this BD opens up the sides but crops a little off the top & bottom of the frame. The only other version I've seen is the shitty US dvd which was 4x3 and censored so I cant say I know this for a fact.
I wish DD would release Fong Sai Yuk 2 on DVD or BD. We're still stuck with the woeful HK DVDs for that one, at least if you require English subs anyway.
Never put much stock in DVDTherapy reviews from their old DVD days, whenever I've visited their site through DVD-Basen for BD reviews they've always seemed very slight to me. Mind you I've gotten into trouble before for slating the site so watch what you say Salty!

Hard Boiled coming to blu-ray-this looks interesting as the distributor isn't Dragon Dynasty,it's Shout Factory, who have done very good work recently on some Roger Corman movies.
