Both are tripe. But I guess the French disc is overall better.

They've been responsible for many of the best Asian movie dvds of recent years.

Many titles of their catalog are not so essential to me, I own Bohachi Bushido, it's a great release although I'm not so picky on picture quality.

Yeah, Discotek are supposed to release this but that's what they've been saying these last two years.
From what information I've read they've never been given good enough masters. I've seen the HKV DVD.
It looks great if you consider the options available. I doubt a DVD from Discotek will improve on it but I would buy it if they managed to.

Discotek will probably include the English dub, re-translated subtitles and a few extras. I'm sure they'll get proper progressive video as well.

Still a while... but good to know it's coming.

Hope it's uncut and top quality.

Do they do Blu?

This has finally been released by Discotek. found this posted elsewhere:

"Okay: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1,Audio Cantonese and English, English subtitles are removeable,(my wife, who speaks fairly good Cantonese says the subs seem to be accurate)running time 105 minutes, unrated region 1.

Overall, the transfer is very nice for a 90's Hong Kong martial arts film. It just has that 'look' that screams 90's HK actioner. I don't know if it was the film stock they used but it just has it.
Burning Paradise seems a little grainy at times but is generally free of defects. I noticed a brief moment of print damage towards the end of the film, but nothing significant.

The majority of the movie takes place in darkened interiors with lots of complex choreography. Thankfully you can always see whats going on and detail is suprisingly good. I didn't notice any blurring or ghosting.

No need to talk about the movie itself-it is a winner and delivers the goods HK action fans crave. It's like The Blade mixed with Once Upon a Time In China vacationing in the Temple of Doom."

Ah! Never knew this was finally released. 10KBullets (http://10kbullets.com/reviews/b/burning-paradise) have reviewed it.

Looks great! No mention of progressive though, plus it would have been nice to have the interview without the embedded subtitles (maybe there was a issue with HKVideo or something). I would have advised seamless branching if the English version was shorter. Otherwise looks solid from a great company.

Amazon Marketplace could be a good idea.

Thanks for uploading those captures. Someone said it was a port of the French disc? Possibly, the materials Discotek had been sent from the licenser were shit.

Without knowing how HK Video looks that's obviously how HK Video looks. All their transfer are pink/purple. That being said, the transfer looks ok. But is it native NTSC??

EDIT: oh righ, the HK Video caps are in this thread. Forgive me. I've had a rough day.
