That Mitchell and Webb Look: S1 - 4/5
Hit and miss but when they hit, they're very funny indeed
Sesame Street (1976 episode): 4/5
Classic old school memories.
Garfield and Friends: 4/5
I used to love this! Even today it makes me smile thanks to Lorenzo Music's wit and sardonic performance
Re: Wild China - I read one review of this (US?) that said BD was a good transfer, on Amazon some customer reviews say the picture is between VHS (!) and DVD

Mock The Week: 4.5/5
Frankie was on fire again tonight and Stewart Francis's stand up on health was hilarious

Has anyone been watching the new series of Shooting Stars? Dead funny, well chuffed it's back, I'm a big fan of Vic & Bob. I see this new series is coming out on DVD in November, hopefully that means they'll release the old series on DVD too, I have most of their other stuff.

It's as good as ever but that for me means it can be very fun to just plain stupid.

Haven't watched the spanking-new Shooting Stars. Saw it back in the 90s and it wasn't funny then. I just don't "get" Vic & Bob. I find them incredibly annoying. Especially Vic.

It's exactly the same, if you didn't like it then, you won't now.

Flashforward: 4/5
New US series being shown on C5 over here. A global occurance happens where the entire world blacks out for exactly 2 minutes and 17 seconds and people see future visions. Some parts reminded me of Lost because of the flashbacks (or rather Flashforwards) and the questions/ideas about fate and whether its pre determined.
Could turn out to be interesting....

Yeah I watched the first episode of that, whilst there are a couple of interesting things so far, overall its style is a bit corny and the beginning totally ripped off LOST's beginning hah.

That's what I thought too (about the beginning). To be fair it is from the makers of LOST but still. It is quite interesting though, who's the guy in black and why is he awake?

I don't think it's the makers of LOST, it's just the ABC studio.

Didn't David Goyer produce LOST? Not sure.

The Sweeney Series 1 3.5/5
Seminal 70's british cop show is still excellent viewing today.Regan & Carter, played by John Thaw & Dennis Waterman are 2 flying squad officers who don't mind bending the rules to get results.of the 13 episodes around 4-5 are excellent,4 maybe just good and maybe 3 are average. obviously viewed today it's a little tame but it's interesting to note that in today's plitically correct climate these cops would probably be in jail themselves! show has some excellent guest stars.am looking forward to starting series 2.

I've given up on FlashForward now, it wasn't keeping my interest.

Fair enough, its a bit of a slow burner at the moment IMO but I'll keep with it.

Yeah, there were a couple of things that were getting me curious, but there are too many dull scenes and the acting isn't great in my opinion.

I've watched the first 3 episodes of Dexter, which were pretty damn great.
Dexter's sister is fucking gorgeous btw.
Don't like the black moody detective, basically cause he's a bit of a boring predictable character, plus I'm not impressed by the acting.
The acting from the rest of the cast seems pretty good so far, though.
Very cool show. I hope it will run for a long time.

Doakes is an awesome character! Let's see if you hold the same opinion by the end of the season. Can't say I share your attraction to Jennifer Carpenter, always thought she was painfully skinny meself.

Yeah she's skinny, but she's got an amazing face, with great eyes and a nice smile... so I forgive her for being 'skinny'. Also, she doesn't look 'unhealthy' skinny, or something.Shingster wrote:Doakes is an awesome character! Let's see if you hold the same opinion by the end of the season. Maybe I'll change my mind about Doakes, but I feel that so far his character is just very stereotypical and the acting is very 'meh'.
