True. I meant with HKL owning the rights still (presumabely) no one will be allowed to release it but I imagine they could easily be sold to one of those said companies.

Those captures look better than the last but still rough. It's very how different the two films look. Based on those I certainly wouldn't pay £19 for FOF.

Contender recently reissued a budget version of Game Of Death so presumably they still own the rights to the other 3 as well. Mark don't know about the coding yet, sorry.

there's nothing to indicate Contender don't have the rights though is there? anyway i am sure Fox will release these in North America before too long.

He can't post his own grabs Brad, he downloaded a 720p mkv rip and posted grabs from that.

Oh yeah good point. I'm now unsure how reliable they are, particularly FOF.

These arrived this morning-as reported elsewhere definitely region-coded A. Had a quick look at Fist Of Fury and my initial thoughts are one of huge disappointment. It doesn't look HD in any way shape or form.it's an AVC Transfer but the transfer looks so lifeless and weak.will have to watch it properly of course but my advice-keep your dvds.

Problem is this HD Master will probably be used worldwide,so it's unlikely we'll get a better transfer.

What do you mean by "AVC Transfer"? Could there be a chance all they did was upconvert the DVD (unlikely I know). They might have used an older HD master (like the ones used for HKL's Platinum DVDs).

It's not pinkified like the HKL transfer.i guess they've used the same HD Master they used for the ultimate collection box set.

Repeating myself here but I could have sworn I read a feature a few years back that revealed Celestial had sapped a lot of detail out of their early HD masters with noise removal techniques. I think as Salty says we may never see a fully HD looking Bruce Lee title.

Just watched The Big Boss...while it doesn't have that HD "pop" the resolution compared to the HKL dvd is amazing-after i watched the BD i popped in the standard dvd to play side by side and it was like night & day...pleased with this now though the lack of mono is a bummer...only extra is a 2:30 minute! interview with Tung Wei...

This is almost unheard of. It's more likely it's just a rubbish Master/messed around with too much.

Likely. I remember Fortune Star saying ages ago the HD Masters were already done, obviously used on the DVDs.

HKL added the pink, we know that much. I wouldn't expect these to be pink.

So are you now saying TBB is worth it? How bad/good is the 5.1 remix?

Not sure if Fox have the BD rights to this but you think they would put out something so obviously a magnet for criticism? Any distributor worth their salt would request a new HD master.

No mono... no sale. Stupid Fortune Star Cunts! And Tung Wai? He had nothing to do with The Big Boss for fuck's sake!

Give me a chance to watch Fist properly Brad  i'll (all being well) watch it tomorrow.i'm on nights at work currently. If you can live without the mono (the mandarin 5.1 sounded fine to me but i'm no audiophile) the increase (and it's huge) in resolution makes this an easy upgrade.

Mono you wont be buying any old films on Blu Ray if thats your way.

Turn your speaker set up to mono, jobs a good un, or just stick on your old dvd at the same time, sinc them up and hey presto mono! even get out your old VHS and dub that to mP3 and sinc that with the disc! if it bothers you that much :D

i've got loads of old films on BD.Mono option should be there though-it's just laziness on the part of the distributors.

Ohh that was for Mark :D

Lazy maybe, The majority of Joe Public couldnt care less about mono, they are too busy thinking 7.1 DTS ES SUPER HD SOUND is always best :D even if they only have a 2 speaker TV set up haha
