WOW! YIPEEY! WOW!

The best bit being "MGM" are releasing it, so it's very likely to be the proper Theatrical Cut too. As far as I know, MGM are the only ones to ever release it. The recent(ish) USA DVD and Japanese DVD are both MGM releases.

p.s - I really hope it's not just in a box set, although if it's a good price I could always sell Hannibal. It would work out well financially.

I still do not trust any HK release for any sort of good quality in HD.

Thanks Salty. I'd be interested if it didn't cost a fortune, sadly I bet it will.

All coming 17/08/09:

The Long Good Friday: http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/ ... riday.html
Withnail and I: http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/ ... and-i.html
Bubba-Ho-Tep: http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/ ... -tep8.html

15/06/09:

The Motorcycle Diaries: http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/ ... ries6.html
East is East: http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/ ... -east.html

Regarding Withnail and I:

I'd be if they don't include both but if they include the hideous 5.1 remix only I'm not upgrading. It's truly a disaster, the surrounds are so ridiculously too loud it's difficult to hear what characters are saying. If they include the original Stereo too I'm all over it.

EDIT: Confirmed in the link above, both the original audio and DTS-HD are being included. Yay!

As someone who prefers the international cut of LEON I'm hoping for branching.

Seven HK blu-ray is region-free,however it has a 1080i transfer and is cropped to 1:78:1 like the canadian release.

Bugger! I never knew there was even a HK BD.

I seriously doubt "we'll" get a 2 disc release. Unlike the French market, the UK market doesn't allow for it.

I cannot see us just getting one cut (no other BD has just one cut). In other words I bet you'll be fine.

Not one I'd rush to upgrade. DVDoo are a reliable company. I've used them a couple of times. They're Danish.

The UK BD of Leon will contain the theatrical and director's cut. Let's hope Optimum don't fuck it up.

It's very likely to be a clone of the German BD. Which I own and is decent:

1. Region B
2. Seamless Branching of both cuts.
3. English or German DTS-HD 7.1 - I "think" it's DTS-HD HR
4. All the extras from the R1 Original and R1 SB Deluxe - So that means the Making Of's and Music Only Score

Wouldn't that be because the theatrical already been passed previously? Whereas the Extended Cut has never been released in The UK before.

Previous releases were submitted by Touchstone/Disney.

The cover art at DVD Times clearly states TWO versions.

I know there are two versions. It's very likely to be a clone of the German BD. No need to use CAPS!

Good point about the different distributor but my point being the version already submitted could be re-used.

Don't be so touchy. I was merely emphasising that DVD Times had cover art which confirmed the two versions so even though only one has passed at the BBFC there will ultimately be two.

A different distributor needs to resubmit the film even if it's the same version as passed for another company. Optimum will need to submit the theatrical cut.
