Sure some of the channels are shocking but others are perfectly fine. The Big 5 are usually fine IMO. Sky isn't any better btw.
You may want to consider Freesat or Freeview HD when that comes. Not many channels but at least after the initial cost it's free. I'm hoping I won't need a new aerial for Freeview HD, if so I'll be getting it. I cannot get Freesat while renting.

I'm not saying that consumers should have to feel like they have to put up with watermarks, I agree they're a monumentally stupid insidious thing that isn't justified at all. What I really mean is that IF there is no suitable alternative, having a watermark appear in the black border (note: NOT in the image itself) doesn't seem like a massive sacrifice. Certainly even remotely in the same league as sitting down with a poor quality pirate!
Still, given the high price of asian blu-ray discs, I do understand why people are avoiding Red Cliff pt.1.

In some respects I'd find that more distracting, the border if you will is black.Shingster wrote:having a watermark appear in the black border (note: NOT in the image itself) doesn't seem like a massive sacrifice.
Agreed, definitely. For me it all depends how much I like the Western cut. If I do want it, I suspect I'll have to make do. We're not going to be getting the Extended Cut in The West and I dislike incorrect aspect ratios even more.Shingster wrote:Certainly even remotely in the same league as sitting down with a poor quality pirate!
The only real alternative is the HK DVD and I reckon I can put up with the logo to avoid going down that route. It's not an easy decision though, I cannot stand watermarks.
I cannot believe how much they cost. Especially when you consider on a whole Asian DVDs cost less than Western DVDs but their BDs have always cost a fortune.Shingster wrote:Still, given the high price of asian blu-ray discs, I do understand why people are avoiding Red Cliff pt.1.
What, really?gasteropod wrote:We all know how Romero likes to go a little over the top about things

Still watermarks on the black border can be easily solved, get some black paper out and stick it on the screen
Mind you I have and always will refuse to review such discs, esspecially burned in ones that they sent out as review discs, if they cannot send out real end finished discs then dont expect anyone to give them the time of day I say.

Invest in Freesat, that said come analogue switch off this should resolve itself.romerojpg wrote:If the wind blows we loose the channels all together, Digital thru a aerial is a joke still for us.

Me either but then Romero is insanely fussy. Sure he's right it's far from perfect but far unwatchable either. I do agree that some channels can look blocky at times though, like ITV2.
As to signal, it's been fine for about a decade now, over two locations. Those still having problems are in the minority, which will go away completely come switch off , or mopped up with Sky/Freesat/cable.
It would make sense Freesat uses a higher bitrate than Freeview. Romero should consider that.

Yeah typical honneamise not producing enough discs to satisfy demand! I honestly cannot fathom the logic behind buying the Blu-ray rights to a title and then only producing a couple thousand copies, fuck creating collectibles and satisfy the feckin consumer base you pretentious tits!
So yeah, I'm waiting on my copy from DVDPacific as well!
