-----------

And just for reference:
Mei Ah:

Optimum R2UK:

R2FR:

------------

Mei Ah:
-Edge enhancement.
-Contrast boosting.
-Macroblocking.
-Yellow filter.

R2FR:
-Slightly cropped at times (but not always. See Jet's face in cap 4).
-No yellow filter.
-More natural colours.
-Soft-looking.
-A bit dark.

Overall I still prefer the look of the Mei Ah, but I'd rather watch the R2FR with its proper french subtitles.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Thanks Tom. I'm surprised you prefer the Mei Ah. I don't. Why do you prefer it?

I went for it over the Optimum though, so I can hear the 5.1. Out of the three, the French one looks the best (it's hard to say for sure though, based on one capture).

Here's the original Optimum vs. Mei Ah comparison:

Wow, the Mei Ah transfer is absolutely horrendous! Compression is VCD style!

@Brad:
I hate dull transfers on films that aren't dull.
Swordsman 2 is a crazy fantasy film, and therefore needs to look "other-worldly".

The french transfer looks too natural for this type of film.
I'd keep watching the Mei Ah if it weren't for the horrible compression artifacts and engrish subtitles.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Cheers Tom. The Optimum has Engrish subs too. I think.
